Another Sound Tube Delete Thread

Got a question for you regarding the sound tube in the V8's. Not sure if it's been asked before but everyone says that it pumps engine noise into the cabin. GM calls the assembly an "Engine Air Intake Resonator". It claims to reduce noise coming from the air intake. I removed mine and didn't notice any less noise in the cabin so now I'm curious?

From what I'm reading, they stopped it after 2020 on the 2SS, but 1SS's still have it.
I'm reading contradicting info on what the true function of it is.

Amplifies, not diminish intake/exhaust sound.
I removed mine after some exhaust modification made it unnecessary. But it did make the stock exhaust sound much louder IMHO.

I removed it from my 2SS and I didn’t notice any difference either.

I'm all for amplifying the stock exhaust. I noticed no difference as far as cabin noise after I removed it.

I un-deleted it.

My car came without it and I got a used sound tube. Without the foam sounds really loud.
I think it does make the engine sound louder and better, only inside the cockpit.

Maybe because it's more of the "luxury" package?

I never knew that some cars had it, some didn't. I'm not opposed to the idea though, it's not like the sound is artificial or anything, just piped into the cabin.

It's intake noise, not exhaust.
It's basically a passive radiator which sits in a chamber. One side of the chamber connects to the intake, while the opposite connects to hose leading to the cabin. These sides are separated by a diaphragm so the intake can't suck air out of the cabin. When the intake roars, the diaphragm vibrates and the sound gets back to the cabin.

I deleted it from my 2017 2SS, which is quite easily done. Didn't care much for the effect, and prefer to just hear the exhaust tone.

I had it on my 2016 and now I don't have it on my 2023. I would say that I don't miss it a bit. If you do pull it off, make sure you get the cabin plug from the dealer, as well as plugging the intake.
