There appears to be a lot of misunderstanding around Magnetic Ride Control as many believe that it makes the car ride smoother... And that's it.
The suspension on a car with MRC is largely the same as on one without it. The primary difference is that the shocks on the non-MRC car are set at a fixed damping rate that is going to be a good mix between softer for comfort and stiffer for grip and performance. No one is going get a backache from driving a non-MRC over any longer distance trip nor are they going to complain that they can't keep the wheels connected to the pavement in the turns. In a car with MRC, the damping rate in the shocks is adjustable / variable across a range. The Sport mode setting is very much like the base suspension in a non-MRC car and is where I tend have mine set most of the time. For those times when the road is a bit rougher, I may switch it to Tour mode to give the car just a little more 'float' over the imperfections. If I'm going to be driving a more twisty road and want to feel it get glued to the road in the corners, I'll switch it over to Track mode. Is it life-changing? No. Is it nice to have? For me, yes. When I'm driving solo and winding through the back roads, Track mode it is for a little enjoyment. When I have my SO with me and we're meandering around town, Tour mode to help take away any chatter. |

My biggest regrets are not getting MRC and the 2SS package.

I also prefer the Bilstein B-14 Nordschliffe PSS sport suspension on my 2020 base model LT V6 6speed. I traded it for a 2018 SS with 12k. I don't like the floaty feel. The shocks sound hollow and the rear end feels like an old pickup. Bilsteins allow me to literally toss the Camaro down curvy roads with a big fat silly smile on my face. It is tactile and drives more like an AMG Merc than a Camaro. Cost ? $1009 for the Biksteins that invluse lowering springs. I added BMR adjustable end links as the Chevy links can be bent with my bare hands in a springy way. The BMR units are BEEFY and are the cherry on top. I have a custom shop that I built a relationship with. (Premier Auto 22153). However, I can't comment on MRC. I have not driven one other than with the salesman telling me what to do. I hate that crap. Been driving 35 years. |

It's been over two years since the OP guy posted - he probably made his choice by now. LOL.
