Arrow CRASH BAR REMOVAL ???

Hey Team,

Saw this photo online and it looks like they removed the front crash bar to allow for better airflow on the HX...

Has anyone else done this, or am I missing something here?

That car is ProCharged. You can see the red BOV at the bottom center of the grille. ProCharger kits do delete the crash bar, I just installed one on my buddies car last week.

Well YES it does look like it but that is a VERY BAD idea. ANY type of frontal impact and the front end will collapse rapidly into the engine compartment. THe front bar absorbs ALOT of energy in impact situations and weighs MAYBE no more than 5 pounds anyway. It also looks like this car is also used on the street which makes the removal of the bar even MORE problematic because of the increased risk of frontal impact.

Stock crash bar weighs 8.0 lbs, not 5.0, just to be clear. And you don’t need to run without a crash bar to do that FYI.

You don’t have to necessarily delete the crash bar to run a race air to air intercooler. Cordes, for one, makes a low profile chrome moly one that allows you to run a race level intercooler. I actually own one and just didn’t end up going that route, so I have a brand new one available if anyone is interested.

Thats what I was thinking also... But i LOVE the look of it removed... perhaps their is a way to remake a tubular bar, that goes up behind the painted portion, allowing for the wide open look... ill have to look into that more, when the front clip is off next... im down for trying a custom solution that achieves both.

This statement is completely wrong. The ProCharger kit pictured in OP post is the race intercooler which requires crash bar removal. It will not fit back on. The Stage 2 intercooler does fit under the crash bar.

I was just referring to the one pictured in OP's post. It is ProChargers Race intercooler and does require removal of the OEM crash bar per ProChargers instructions.

Great minds think alike lol…I described that exact setup in the post above yours. The Cordes one does exactly that.

Yes, you remove the OEM one but can replace it with the Cordes one so that you’re not without a crash bar. It even reuses the factory hardware. Here’s a pic:

This is awesome, but no photos on there website of it installed?
Does anyone have a photo of this installed? Seems like it would still be visible?

Saving 7.7lbs over the nose alone seems worth it to me at that price. Every little weigh savings you can do on these cars helps. Seriously considering one after seeing that.

I didn't know this existed. Thanks! I will show this to my buddy so he can get one for his car.
