A10 Hold the downshift pad feature question

Hello,

I've been building my relationship with the A10.

So the feature to downshift to the lowest gear possible if you hold the down paddle works and It's amazing.

Now If I'm doing 80mph and I hold it a little bit less time (3/4 sec), I can get a downshift from 10th to 5th for example. If you go over that 1/4 sec it gets to 3rd.

I've tried tapping 1 time to go 9th, and tap and hold 500ms to 700ms and I seem to be hitting 5th more consistently.

What are the rules or mapping for this? Sometimes 10 to 3rd is too much, and 5th would be great, but seems like a super narrow window to hit and get it right.

Slap it into to Auto, mash the right foot and let the computers do the work, nothing else will be faster...

or, mat the pedal a quick second and release it, it'll drop to the lowest available gear...PROFIT.

I don't like the paddles as they have a delay and disconnected feeling to them, how it shifts and such.

This! And tapping the gas pedal to get an 8th to 2nd downshift around town gives a great "NPP says hello" to drivers in adjacent cars.

I played with that theory on The Dragon and found it to be true there. Couldn’t make the shifts with the wheel turned that tight.

Thanks for the feedback. I know PSA is nice, but the pads are the pads. Having the converter locked and downshift is nice.

So far I think I found that if you hold the TD pad, with 0% throttle, will go to the max rpm capable. (10th to 3rd at +6000 rpm)
If you hit the gas more than 50% while holding TD pad, Might go 10th to 4th at 5500 rpm. So you can speed up without having to shift immediately.

Makes sense, one downshift is to brake, the other one is to accelerate. I just have to test it to make sure it works this way and it's consistent.

You're welcome to join the testing

As others have said: Just to put this out there: Its easier to use Performance Shift Mode without using the paddles at all.

Just slam the gas pedal down to the floor and let off immediately. Car will automatically shift to the lowest possible gear for 7 seconds and hold it and is relative to speed. If you want to hold that gear longer than 7 seconds just move the stick to manual. (Roll Race technique - Soon as you slam the gas shift back to Drive and let the A10 do what it does best)

No paddle shifter required.
