6th Gen Camaro Automatic Transmission Rebuild

I am anticipating that my current A10 will fail at these power levels, which will require a rebuild. In fact, perhaps I should send it in over the winter, broken or not.

So, the question is, who are the top-tier transmission shops?

I think I saw Andrew at CSP talk about a rebuilder in one of his more recent videos.

IF - you wanted to ship your car to Maryland, Late Model Performance is now building 10-speeds, in house, but will only do it with the car there, and will only tune for that tranny.

While I am new to the LT platform, THIS is one of the reasons I was originally going to stay away from these cars and opt for an older platform with more support. The top builders we knew from the past 4l60, 4L80 and so on do not support the newer stuff. If I was in your position I would take a look at Circle D trans though. If I ever put a stall in this car it will probably be from CD. Not just because they make good converters but also because the support is limited from what I have seen. Again, I am new and could be ignorance on my part.
I'll be paying attention to what you do

Pure Drivetrain Solutions and Tim King both do 10L90 rebuilds for high HP cars.

Circle D converter is a waste of time on a PD blower/10 speed car.

Well I would NOT pay the money to have an A10 rebulit. The reason I say that is that I was getting quotes anywhere from 2500 to 3000 dollars to rebuild my tranny when it took a dump recently.

You can buy an A10 from Chevy High Performance Parts and it will come with a 12 month warranty for about 4K (after credit for your A10 Core). It comes with fluid and a NEW convertor which is good because I ballooned my other one. With all this considered , It didnt make sense to me then to pay 3K for a rebuild.

https://www.chevrolet.com/performanc...ssions/10l90-e

Now a REBUILD might make sense for a much higher HP application but I am about 700HP at the motor and maybe 550 TQ. They have better clutches you can put in them and also we have a guy down here in my area than can machine the case to be able to hold MORE clutches. These are used primarily in twin turbo heavy assed trucks making 1500 HP or so.

The STOCK A10 can easily handle 900-1000HP as long as you doing proper maintenance.

Sorry boss, I was actually talking about Circle D Transmissions in reference to the 10L90 performance rebuild https://www.circledtrans.com/10l90-performance-rebuilds

And Circle D Specialties for a 10L80 stall for me https://www.circledspecialties.com/c...rque-converter

Obviously they look like they maybe the same company or have some relation, but they are two different places of business. Not sure if you knew that or you already had info on CDT being totally worthless
If you're saying they suck I'd like to know so I can avoid that fiasco

I believe that Circle D would be the dominant Gen 6 converter maker. I know several ZL1 guys that have their converters and really like them.

Good point; when I say rebuild, I mean rebuild it with with better parts, stronger parts.

On the other hand, it's not giving me any indication that that it dislikes what I'm doing to it now.

That’s a great option for folks at your power level. Some of us are close to double that engine HP level so going with another stock trans doesn’t make a lot of sense. Take a look at the Pure website…it’s much more than a stock “rebuild” and designed to hold big power.

Gotcha, thought you would suggesting a converter for JSH. My bad for misunderstanding.

I will let you know how my rebuilt tranny does after my new motor gets tuned! LMP of Md did the rebuild and I have a Circle D converter in it. I should be north of 4 digits at the wheels I hope! lol

Did you go with a higher than stock stall speed? Stock is 2500 I believe?

Stock will hold for a little while, depending on how you are using the car. My stock one started going in the mid-900 RWHP range after 50 passes or so. It always starts with slipping in the higher gears.

Pure Drivetrain Solutions has been building mine for a couple years. I sort of volunteered to be their R&D car for the 10L90 and it has consistently been getting better. I have smoked a converter and broke some other unrelated stuff, but the transmission has been solid for a while.
