Not a C5 owner, but I went from a '19 C7 vert to a '23 2SS vert. Happy with the new car (I bought off a lot), but I miss the Vette trunk space (surprising), Homelink, Michelon tires and the front parking camera. Camaro is a lot easier to get in and out of and the seats are comfortable, but I would like to recline the seat a bit more.

I came from a C7 as well…there was a Mustang GT in between, but we all know that was a giant upgrade.
I miss the C7 trunk space. I miss the low connected feeling, I miss the transparent roof (reason I got the sunroof), and I miss the front cameras..a lot! But overall the move to a 2SS is an upgrade. This car feels bigger, but just as connected. The magnetic ride is fantastic. The fit and finish of the 1LE interior is better than the C7. I haven’t been able to get on it yet, but once I’m all clear for break-in, I have no doubt it will perform like the C7. So, upgrading from a C5 is going to be a giant leap! |

Get the Camaro and keep the Corvette if you can. I kept my 2008 Corvette when I bought my 2022 SS 1LE. Our Corvette has sentimental value, and a Corvette was a life goal of mine.
As far as driving the Corvette feels faster off the line and I like the targa top. They both handle great. The 1LE has all the latest tech which is nice. Both cars have NPP exhaust, but the Camaro’s sounds better. Some days I want to be classic and controlled and drive the Corvette, other days I want a more raw and aggressive drive and take the Camaro. Sort of like GT vs muscle car, although the vette is a sports car and the Camaro a pony car. To me they are 2 different types of cars. Can’t take the dog and the wife at the same time in the Corvette, which is good and bad. We do drive the corvette less now since we got the Camaro, but that just makes it more special when we do. |

Now you mention it that was a positive with my C7, especially with my Camaro being a 'Vert. Guess you just look at the back seat like a trunk.

I came from a C6. The 6th gen, particularly in 1LE spec outclasses my Z51 C6. The C6 handled very well but the steering was definitely less intuitive and I feel that my 1LE inspires more confidence that I can drive it hard without ending up in the ditch.

Thanks guys. I’ll let you know my thoughts once I get some seat time in the Camaro. (Should have mentioned that both the vette and the 1LE are M6.)

There is really no comparison with the C5 Corvette, the Alpha chassis 6th gen Camaro is a superior car in all aspects.

Did you try going in through the backseat? The trunk is huge just the opening isn’t

What I noticed coming out from an automatic A6 transmission C7 Stingray Z51 to my 6 spd manual transmission Camaro SS, that the Corvette felt more agile/nimbler on the road while changing lanes at speed or taking a curve, probably because its lower to the ground and lighter weight, the Camaro felt heavier on the rear while doing the same maneuvers. But I really love my 6 speed manual transmission of my Camaro, the exhaust sounds louder and my wife prefers the seating position of the Camaro, the driving feeling feels faster on the manual transmission because you rpm it to your own (probably is not really faster, just the driving feeling). Also the reliability of my 5th and 6th gen Camaros was way better than my unreliable C7 Corvette.

Haven’t been in a c5 but was in a c5z. Just remember the feeling of the rear tires right on your back and providing a good amount of feedback due to the distance. Probably good while going fast but not great while cruising or DDing. The alpha chassis is better as already mentioned.
I think there is more potential with the LT1 than the LS6 too. Did the c5z go 10s with a simple Bolton car?

I have a 2003 Z06 Corvette with some bolt ons. First it’s a great car and can definitely hold its own. Mine is a very low mileage great example. But with that said and this isn’t really fair because I have a ZLE but it’s not even in the same playing field. A good car to compare it to would be mine 2012 SS Camaro also with bolt ons. Both of those are very comparable.
