Driver's side door won't open after ppf install
I ppf'd (front + doors and rocker panels) my new 23 Camaro 2SS 1LE with 800 miles and when I picked it up, I opened the door with the key in my pocket, got in, started the car, and went to my buddy's house. When I got there, I wasn't able to open the door. Not with the indoor handle, and not by my buddy who was trying the outdoor door handle. I locked and unlocked the door with the key fob and with the physical buttons and it sounded like it was operating fine, but still we couldn't get the door open. We popped off the part of the handle to expose the keyhole and could turn the key, and it sounded like it was operating fine, but still when we pulled on the indoor or outdoor handle, the door wouldn't open. The other door works fine. My ppf installer said he took the door handle, the door panel, and the mirror off to install the ppf. So I drove it home and on my trip home I saw a message flash "side detection unavailable". Additionally, when I get to my buddy's house and when I got home, the car wouldn't let go of my bluetooth, like it thought I was still inside. This may be because I couldn't open the driver door and had to shimmy my ass in and out through the passenger side door. I shimmied back in and hooked up my OBD Link MX+ and it did not find any error codes. The ppf installer did not know what he could have done to cause this but has graciously offered to pay for the fix. I'm hoping it is something simple. I'm going to take it to the dealer to see if they can fix it but I'd hate for the installer to have a big repair bill if this could all be resolved easily as he seems to be a good guy. Any ideas?

Side detection won't work when it rains because the sensors aren't able transmit and receive through the rain(think mist) So I'm betting that one of the sensors got covered up and he didn't trim it out.
No clue on the door. Good on you for getting PPF this soon. Best investment for these cars

It could be an easy fix inside the door, like the door lock actuator didn’t get plugged back in or the door lock cylinder rod may have become detached. Check the parts descriptions from GM Parts Authority here:
https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/v-2023...k-and-hardware The side detection may share wires with the lock mechanism. |

Start simple. Disconnect the battery for at least 15 minutes.

Just take it in as a warranty claim: There really isn't an explanation for PPF causing this, so don't even bring it up. They will be more than happy to tell you if they find a PPF reason to deny the warranty, but DONT get them to look for a reason to blame it on PPF. If you come up saying that's what you think it is, they will look there for a problem. Defective from the factory is the best explanation, the recent initial quality survey showed even the more reliable brands avg multiple problems PER car in the first year
