Best surfing in continental US

You can ski and surf and drive at Willow Springs in the same day... I need to do that hat-trick some day--so far I've only done the skiing and surfing in same day thing

Other than that, I know so many communists... but wait, also largest GDP of any state by almost 2x how is that possible with all communists? :-)

I know, homeless everywhere and all the feces, so much human feces, it's awful don't come here
Some of the best skiing and DEEP snow>>This year is the first in a loooooong time that this has happened...Don't act like it's normal

Best selection of race tracks all running year round: Laguna, Sonoma, Thunderhill, Buttonwillow, Willow Springs, Chuckwalla>> Just don't get caught with loud exhaust.....

Go anywhere by the beach and you trip over homeless...LA....forget about it....long beach...same thing.....santa monica....boardwalk is barely walkable without being harassed for money.....Do you ever leave your house...or are you an old guy still living in what California was 20 years ago? And I'm guessing by your user name you're located in the San Fernando Valley, one of the worst places to live when it comes to stupid ass laws and regulations and not to mention police allowing crime to run rampant. If you do live in the Valley, you made my point. There is no way you're driving 6 hours to willow, driving 5 hours to mammoth to ski, and than back to the beach.....you're delusional....ok I'll get off my California isn't what it's made out to be high horse now....back to the oil discussion.

My ZLE is stock no loud exhaust issue except at Laguna and slip on Laguna pipes solve that.

I don't go to those beaches you mentioned, why would I? I'm 40 minutes from best beaches like Zuma and other Malibu beaches and there are zero homeless people there, plenty of easy parking and great waves... Sounds like you're the one who needs to get out and learn about where the best beaches are :-)

You don't seem to know the snow history, I have an IKON pass and average 12-15 days per year and know it well.. this year was a record, 2016-17 was the previous DEEP year even better in some ways with 30 foot base at Mammoth summit. Years in between have all been good with no dry years, all lifts open and tons of good skiing top to bottom in Mammoth and Tahoe.

Mountain High? :-) You also don't know where to ski in So Cal. About 1 hour 15 min door to slopes from my house to Mt Baldy in San Gabriels south of Pasadena which has the best advanced double diamond skiing in so cal. This year was amazing there, it's still a secret after over 50 years operation, I feel bad sharing it.

So if I wanted to I could easily go 1 hr 15 min to track early 8 am at Willow Springs (6 hours to willow? :-)!! ) on a test-and-tune day and do some hot laps for an hour, drive to Baldy in ~2 hours and ski for 2 hours, and then hit Huntington Beach in 1 hour from Baldy for a few hours of surfing. I haven't done it, but it would be EASY, i will just for the fun of it and make a video.

There must be a reason(s) people are leaving California in record numbers. Beautiful state, ruined by insane politics and politicians. Used to visit the Bay Area for vacation regularly, but would never return now. I don't need my car broken into, or be accosted by aggressive/violent bums. And the cops could care less. Yeah, no thanks.

Yes people are leaving, and at the same time more people are arriving, there are way too many people here in LA and the dreamers keep arriving. I'm lucky those issues don't affect me where I live in my nice home with a beautiful view of the city and mtns, and no homeless ppl on my street.

I confess I'm glad that people are repelled by the overhyped news stories everyone assumes are 100% true. When these people are repelled and leave, or don't want to visit as tourists, it makes the state better for people like me who live in this still WAY-overcrowded state and city of LA.

What about this is delusional? What Zuma beach is like, historical snowfall at Mammoth? (https://www.mammothmountain.com/on-t...owfall-history)

Are you arguing I don't live 1 hr 15 min from Willow Springs or Mt Baldy, or that Baldy is just over 1 hour from Huntington on the weekend? I've done all those drives many times in last few years, you should check Google maps I'm not going to do it for you :-)

It's that kind of thinking that keeps the crowds at Zuma, WS and Baldy small which is good for me and my friends... he's right I'm delusional, don't go to WS and Baldy it's not close enough or worth the drive anyway.

Delusional is your belief that all US cities and states don't have similar problems... I don't have to leave the valley to see homeless people and suffering, are you kidding have you been here lately? Plenty of that within a couple of miles of my house, and unfortunately plenty of it in every other city in the US.

Yes it is getting worse, and getting worse everywhere in the US. But I'd rather deal with that here in my beautiful CA home within 1 hr 15 min from both Willow Springs and Mt Baldy skiing, and 45 min from Zuma beach. I'm also 10 min from a thrilling canyon drive up on Mulholland where James Dean learned to drive sports cars, so I'm heading out right now in my ZLE because my shitty CA job allows me to WFH and do that anytime I have a break. Peace out!

Or maybe "one CA resident stands up to the pointless CA bashing" :-)

I really don't care, my life is good here and less people makes it better. Just got back from a perfect lunchtime ZLE run on canyons and Mulholland with almost no cars in front of me.

But I have trouble with all the non-fact based opinions like how long it takes me to get from my house to Willow Springs early on a weekend morning. LA expert dude claimed it's 6 hours to WS, it's under 90 min now with LA traffic!

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Van+...er=0&entry=ttu

Added some pics from the delusionally ~75 min close Willow Springs and Mt Baldy this year...

Your opinion is clear, you should definitely go if you feel that way... why are you still in CA?

My house has doubled in value in 10 years, can't live without the tracks and snow and waves, and can't get the cool job I have anywhere else either so I'm sticking it out.
