Rebate for August 2023?

Do we have any insight how likely is GM to offer any rebates for August sales?

Are they likely to extend the current $750 rebate into August?
Or can we expect something better than that?
Or nothing past July 31st?

My experiences in trying to follow Chevy offers has been they don't announce them until the 1st of the month, for just that month.

Do you still not have your car? Wasn't it built in early June?

Yes, it was built the first week of June. The dealer has been telling me "Not yet!" until two days ago. Where the car has been the past 7 weeks nobody was able to tell me.

Now they gave me a choice of a few appointment dates -- some still in July, a few also later next week with rolls into August.

So hence my hesitation - should I get the car in July and cash in the current $750 deal, or do I get it in August and either lose the $750 if they do not extend it, or consider myself stupid if they post say a $2k rebate on August 1...

I know, I was asking more for an "informed bet".

Given that the production of the '24s is starting, what is happening on dealers' lots? Do people snap up the '23s in order to save some meaningful change for essentially the same car?

Or are the '23s piling up as everyone is waiting for the new MY production?

Now assuming that
1. GM knows about the inventory levels better than most of us, and
2. The GM people act rationally (yes, I know) and their rebate decision will reflect the market situation,

we can probably expect the level of the August rebate -- at least directionally: down, same, or up.

I do not want to overthink it, at the end of the day it just a damn few hundred dollars. It is more just for fun to see how the market is developing and reacting.

Have you asked the dealership about this? Talk to the finance manager... The official announcements go out on the first, but I have had conversations in the past where the finance people sometimes know about the next month's offers on the last day of the month.

I indeed have asked. They are strictly mum -- well, beyond the official party line that they will know on the 1st.

But I also feel that they know beforehand, especially at the large-volume dealerships where they are apparently plugged very closely into the GM mothership.

They are likely playing hardball because they need to sale in this month to count for their numbers. Go ask another dealer that has no interest in what you do and don't know.

I don’t think the dealers know in advance. I’d take the $750 and be happy. I think there’s a good chance that the rebate will go away, since they are not allowing GMS discounts on any 24 Camaros.

That's likely a very good insight, thank you, Leonard!

If you can’t even swing MSRP then you’re probably out of your league

You need to learn how to play the game: It’s the dealer’s objective to take as much of your money as possible, while it’s your objective to keep as much of your money as possible.
