Hello, everyone!

Question: Are there any shipping companies you have used that you would either recommend using or avoiding?

Back story: Today is a great day for me. Although I was waiting on a Riverside Blue 2SS, which is currently stuck in purgatory, I found a gorgeous Summit White 2SS with black rally stripes and the black appearance package on the lot. It had surprisingly been on the lot for a little bit (as far as Camaro sales go, also in a pretty rural area), so the dealership offered me $850 BELOW STICKER in addition to the $1250 in incentives I qualify for. Other than color, all other features are the same, NPP, A10, sunroof, etc... Obviously, I locked it in.

However, I am in Colorado and the car is on the east coast. So, now I am deciding whether to fly and drive or pay for shipping. I don't mind driving, but I know it is recommended the oil be changed at 500 miles, so I would need to also coordinate that mid-trip. Then, of course, putting so many miles on right away is a sad thought - but I would be able to take her through the Smokey Mountains!

So far, the lowest quote I am finding is through Ship A Car Direct for about $1100 on an open carrier.

I used a broker in Feb to ship my '18 Z from NJ. She was recommended by a friend of mine who buys several cars per year.

$1250 for closed trailer and $200 broker fee. I want to say when we looked at open we were at 8-850 for the shipping and her fee was $150. The advantage of a broker is she can put the job out and it gets bid on by multiple carriers.

I've been there too. While driving's an adventure, shipping saves wear and tear. I used Ship A Car Direct for a move – smooth process, reliable. $1100 seems decent for peace of mind. Thanks for the insight, everyone - I appreciate it! At the end of the day I decided to fly and drive, and I am glad I did - it was a great way to break in the car and enjoy the new purchase. She drives like a dream, and going through the Smoky Mountains in TN was worth having a few extra miles on it from the start.

I read too many concerning reviews with a multitude of shipping companies which made me too nervous to trust any of them, lol. Especially as this car has sentimental meaning to me as well (wont bore you with my story). Not to mention, the cost of shipping a car these days is astronomical compared to the past.

You definitely went the best route. I always recommend picking up and driving when the weather permits. It's a great way to get acclimated to the car and get those break-in miles in.

I flew from Arkansas to Utah in may and drove back 1200 miles lol. Since the drive was so long I let my car sit a whole month and half before getting back in it.

When I bought my last car out of state, I debated for days about flying and driving it home versus having it shipped. I wanted to avoid racking up miles right away, but I was also a bit worried about trusting shippers since you hear so many mixed reviews. Ultimately, shipping saved me a ton of hassle and, honestly, peace of mind knowing the car wouldn’t hit crazy weather or debris on the highway.

If you do decide to go the shipping route, I had a pretty good experience with A-1 Auto Transport. They offered open and enclosed options and kept me updated throughout the process, which really helped with my nerves about handing my car over.
