Makes perfect sense to me. It ticks the boxes you care about and is therefore the better choice, for you.

You’re the one who said that because an automatic is faster it’s better. You don’t seem to get that faster is only one of many criteria when buying a car or choosing a transmission.

If that's what you took from what I said, then clearly I did a poor job communicating.

I have only ever owned manuals. the only reason I am even interested in the Camaro is because it still comes in a manual.

For me (subjectively) the driving experience is more important than ultimate performance. So for me and my criteria a manual is better.

Objectively, as in just hard data, automatics have surpassed manuals.

Exactly. Life is too short brother. We have to appreciate and enjoy what we have.

I made one small change and now I agree with you.

BTW, apologies, my snarky comment earlier was uncalled for.

Best I remember C&D was faster at vir with the manual zl1 than the automatic. Of course the drivers were great.

I'm off the forum for a month and come back to the same old worn out topics... Manual vs Auto and the LT1 vs SS vs ZL1. I really wish OPs would just research the forum before posting.

I would like to add something:

If you put 2 really good drivers, one with a manual car and the other with a A10 racing nurburgring. The cars might go head to head for the 1st hour. After that driver fatigue would make the manual driver slower. A 2 or 3 hour race is no joke.

On the other side, the manual driver will have a blast driving it, and the A10 driver, after winning the race, will be treated as a fake driver because he didn't win, the T93 deserves the trophy.

And, the issue with the manual feeling slower is the Transmission gear ratios, and differential ratio.

I think it would be a different game if you can fit 4.11 gears in a M6 for drag racing. The tall gearing is for EPA purposes.

I've been taking care of the summer "Honey Do List" around the house and helping my aging parent and in-laws.

The big one was Arlington TN was hit a few weeks ago with winds close to 90mph so, we had no power and a lot of trees down in our area. Shelby Co. had around 120,000 with out power right after the storm... I pray we are finished with that type of weather for a long time.

Omg, I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Seems like you got slammed with everything all at once. I hope things continue to improve and sending good vibes your way.
