Isn't the only argument to even have at this point subjective? In the year of our Iphone 2023, Automatics are objectively better.

Clearly you define 'better' differently than I do, which is your privilege. I've owned an A10 and now own an M6. I like the M6 more than I did the A10, though I liked both cars quite a bit. So by my definition, the M6 is 'better.' Explain to me why I'm wrong. Specifically, tell me why I should like the A10 more than the M6. |

I appreciate the A10 in FL tourist season traffic.
When I'm the only car around on the farm roads, I think this sucks, too many effin' gears I should have got the manual. The A10 is great for heavy traffic/ long road trips, and that's about it IMO |

Your better is subjective.
I said objectively better. Automatics outperform humans, that's objectively better. |

This has to be one of the weirdest derailed threads I have read on this forum. Arguing dumb stupid shit that doesn't really matter.
OP, buy what would be fun to you the most. It's your car and you should enjoy driving it! Me, I bought a M6 LT1. The LT1 was the only way a new V8 Camaro was in my budget, but when I was looking, the primary concern was a manual. Everything else was secondary. So when I found an M6 Camaro locally that was not spoken for that I could make work with the budget, I jumped at the chance. I drove a 2005 Chevy Cobalt SS (manual) for almost 14 years, and traded in for a "practical" hatchback Civic EX (automatic). While there was nothing wrong with the Civic at all, and by all measures it was a good car, I simply did not get excited about getting in my car. As soon as I traded it in for my manual Camaro, that fun of getting in my car immediately returned. Obviously the budget part of things takes the biggest precedence and I get that. If you can't make the trade work financially, then the conversation is obviously a no-go. But if you can, and you really want to drive a manual, then make it happen! Have fun in your car...you spend way too much money on it not to enjoy it to the fullest. These dumb conversations about who is faster on a track and who is faster in straight lines and blah blah blah...who cares? There will always be cars out there faster than yours....ALWAYS. Just drive what brings you the most joy that you can afford, and if that joy comes from a manual transmission, then do what you can to make it happen and I wish you the best in finding a way if that is what you truly want.

Look at it this way. All this drama is about money and wishes. If I win the powerball today I'd buy 7 or 8 new cameros. Manuals, autos all the different models. I'd pay way over msrp, get the nitro filled tires with extended warranty and all. And I'd be happy.

You’re assuming that the only metric people care about is speed, which is clearly not universally true. By your ‘objective’ measure a Volkswagen Bug that got 2 MPG and had a 1 gallon tank would be ‘better’ than a 6th gen ZLE if it were 1/1000 faster through the 1/4 mile. I’m willing to give up a 1/10 here or there to get other things that are important to me, like driver engagement. |

Pick one. Remember by your standards the Vega is better since it will run the 1/4 mile in about 7 seconds.

I was able to finally purchase my 1SS A10 in April of this year. I've been over the moon ever since. A V8 Camaro with auto trans in the silver/gray color category were my only criteria. I feel so blessed and giggle every time I get in my car and start her up. It's that simple for me.
