Sometimes it feels like my sanity gets in the way...
Two different scenarios:
The first one... I'm driving down a large arterial road with a 55 MPH speed limit. I'm accelerating and a CTS-V paces me for a moment. I don't like having vehicles on my side, so I sped up, and as soon as I did, he launches.. ..I watched him fly to the moon.. ..and continued on with my ordinary drive. At the next stop light about a mile down the road, there was a cop in the right lane, the CTS-V turned off before that though. The second one... I'm merging onto the tollroad, 75 MPH speed limit, merging in at about 60 MPH.. A black Cadillac Escalade is in the right lane and is doing about the speed limit and comes up right before my bumper almost like he wasn't going to let me merge, before he jumps into the center lane (which was clear the whole time...) I merge and give it about 1/3rd gas to get my speed up with intentions to overtake the SUV and get into the middle lane.. ..I got up to about 85 but the SUV launches, getting up to 100 - 120ish.. overtaking me.. I could have launched and probably would have overtaken him but decided against it... I drive a bit fast but the last thing I want is to go flying by a cop at 100+ MPH.. ..but then I ask myself.. ..why the hell do I drive a Camaro SS.. |

The first day I drove my 18 SS home from work, I got pulled over doing 80 in a 50. My previous car was a Honda Element, which could barely hit 80 if you drove it off a cliff. I had no clue I was going that fast. Luckily it was in my small hometown and the cop just sent me home with a warning, but these cars are built to go fast. My car at 140 on the front straights on track feels like my Honda Element at 75 on the highway.

I simply just don't and never will engage in anything like that on public roads. If I want to have some fun with the Camaro I go on the back country twisties and have some fun, but I'm not going to try to race someone down the hwy. Nothing good can ever come of those situations.

I'm not a nascar driver. Winning a race has almost nothing to do with why I love my Camaro.

He was definitely checking my car out and ended up writing me for 84. I attributed it to me not bullshitting him, him liking my car, and likely him knowing that 91 in that car with those conditions was perfectly safe. Cost me less than $200 and no points. Funniest part was he asked me to keep it under 85 the rest of the way, not the posted limit of 70. |

I got a 20+ over years ago . I paid my fine to the county , though it was over. Weeks later I got another in the mail for the same offense that said super speeder.It was much more $.

I race myself
When on public roads the only person I race is myself. I race up to about 10 over the speed limit, and then slow down to 5 over. I always win!
As for racing some jackass I don't know on public roads? Go ahead, fly off into the sunset, it never hurts my pride not taking on a douche in a foreign POS that sounds like a weed wacker! Screw em, they won't be paying my ticket. Quote:
