Exactly , hopefully it’s a Mustang he buys when he gets rid of his Camaro again. I hear those stangs have real nice wiper blades.

Aftermarket blades are usually much better quality than those from the factory on pretty much any car. Car companies source the cheapest blades they can get by with since it’s a feature that in all seriousness does not affect the reliability, performance, style, comfort, or function of the car. It’s probably the cheapest normal wear and tear item after an oil filter. And a quality oil filter is much more important for proper performance and reliability.

Some really good blades go for $50 each. If you’re a wiper aficionado then you may consider investing $100 in wiper blades. They really will be made of a higher quality rubber that will not dry out or stiffen as fast as the cheaper blades.

Technically you should change your blades twice a year anyway, if you daily drive the car and use it in all climates.

The Dodge I drove in all weather. My Z has only seen sun (other than the once it rained on the way home from out) but it was minor and wipers did not play a factor.

How in the ever loving windshield could GM justify a $1 wiper on a $50K+ car.

Yeah. it is a real problem and I am really pissed.
Being a Farmer , unless that's supposed to be a joke, economics in Business , and up to owner to update to what level of product they want. 40 , 30 , 20 , or satisfied with the $1 OEM wiper , that most have posted are satisfied with . Happy Motoring.

Says who?? I live in WI... my DD I'm lucky if I have to change the blades once every 2-3 years. I always buy OEM blades as well. I will change the blades when they need to be changed... (i.e. when they are no longer doing what they should)

Kinda sounds like what they tell you at the oil quick-change places.

(the post you quoted, I mean)

There are so many outdated "rules of thumb" that are still used... change your oil every 3k, people drive 12k / year, etc. As a driver, take the responsibility to know your vehicle and attend to things when you notice they need attention. Especially for fluids, follow the maintenance schedule in the manual / provided by the car's computer and use the recommended fluids.

It amazes me how many people will drop $40k, $50k, $60k, or much more on a vehicle and then try to run $2/quart oil in it along with the cheapest gas they can find...
