2016 SS calculated IAT?

I was told that the IAT was not accurate after I put the whipple SC on because it was “calculated”. Is this true? I’m measuring it with one of those gauges that you plug into your OBD2.

MAT is calculated not IAT. On a supercharged SS, Whipple will have you install an LT4 MAP sensor with a breakout harness, so IAT becomes a real post intercooler temp reading. It’s not calculated.

This is what I suspected. Is the relocated sensor in the back of the blower? Do you know of a way to test it? I’ve got one of the FI interchillers and don’t think it should be running at 120 degrees IAT on an 80 degree day.

Yes. The breakout harness pulls the IAT reading out of the SS MAF and uses the LT4 TMAP instead for IAT reading.

Depends on how you’re logging data. 120 degrees…idle? Cruise? End of a drag strip run…?

The sensor data is pretty useless unless you’re under boost in the Whipple 2.9 since the bypass is not intercooled (changed on the new 3.0). You should consider adding some temp sensors to your Interchiller system….could integrate with a Banks iDash if you want to be cool haha. But that would let you definitively know if the Interchiller was working properly since you could see pre and post chiller water temps.
