They called like the next week and asked me to pay for on star and I cussed the poor guy out and said not no but F no.

Is there not a freaking security system on these cars? How did they smash my windows out, open the door from the inside, rifle through my stuff, and leave it in the rain for me to not know about?

Personally, no offense or anything but I think this is more of a problem with your environment and where you live, not the factory alarm system. An alarm can make noise all day long but noones going to care if a cop doesn't show up. FWIW I got my SS broken into once from the passenger side window. I was parked 'away' from people, not realizing that would make me a target, and I came out to find my window on the ground, my glove boxes and trunk stolen, and my prius keys stolen. I was also on a road trip to Atlanta. fortunately I had already stashed my important stuff in the hotel so they didn't get anything important, it still pissed me the hell off. Police only asked me if I had a gun in the car that was confiscated, which I didn't. Thats all they cared about. Nothing happened to the criminals.

It’s one of the most split down the railroad tracks college towns you could ever imagine. Millions upon millions of daddy’s money on one side, and extreme poverty on the other. You can imagine how that plays out. Same as it does in big cities.. just with MOSTLY 18-26 year olds.

Onstar and Chevy failed me too, unfortunately not many Camaro owners are aware of how Chevy and Onstar are pretty useless when it comes to thieves. My ‘22 SS was stolen, the thieves broke the glass, and I had no notification whatsoever of the alarm going off. On top of that it took the thieves 56 seconds from breaking the glass to getting away with the car. So yes, to agree with you, these systems are useless and I learned that Camaro’s are also pretty easy targets to car thieves.

I've been using carlock for a while now. It's pretty sensitive as far as monitoring vibrations. It can detect a lightly shut car door or trunk when its armed (atleast in my experience). I would like to think it would detect someone banging on the car, such as breaking a window.

no it won't stop anything or anyone, but you'd be notified.
