Stock quad tips and replacements (npp)

Hello, I have a 22 2SS with the npp exhaust and I’ve decided to chop off that massive suit case in the rear and go for a straight pipe from the cats back, as an axle back and cat back is almost 2000 for these cars, which is the same amount as a set of headers and is crazy to me, but the main question is what tips can I go with that are a bit bigger and what size inlet would I need? I’m interested in possibly a 4.5 inch tip if those fit.

You do know that with the valves open its pretty much a straight through pipe. If u want louder most are taking off the back cat. Makes it louder take of the front ones as well then holyhellow itys loud through the suitcase. jfyinfo

ps speed engerning headers are as good as kooks and cost about 500 oir less new.

As of right now I’ve already removed the secondary cat, I also was hoping to remove it for weight purposes, that massive suitcase can’t be light lol

I went with the AWE Touring axleback, as a straight pipe doesn't sound good to me, too raspy. Its cheap for a reason IMO. You have done the fuse pull already, right?

Actually I have not, I was a bit confused on what cars were able to do it, I thought it was the 16-18 models only?

Nope, all of the 6th gens with NPP can have the exhaust open full time by pulling fuse 51 in the engine bay fuse box.

You can also go into the infotainment system and set the exhaust setting to track all the time, so regardless of what mode you drive in, it leaves it in track setting. This will still close the valves when cruising and low RPMs but leaves them open most of the time.

That (because it's hollow with almost no material inside), plus it has a positive aero effect due to its flat, smooth, only lightly grooved bottom. Aftermarket exhausts turn the rear diffuser into an air dam. Oh, and losing weight from the rear end where you need traction is nowhere near as good as losing it from the engine bay.

Not saying aftermarket exhausts aren't good or worth the money, it's just that everything in life has tradeoffs, and Camaro exhausts are no exception.

This! I stay saying this. Everyone is always so excited to lose weight off the back of a nose heavy, RWD car lol. It's counterproductive.

But But what about the aero on the back of the car when you pull that suitcase and get all that air trapped back there with the suitcase gone...

I think if you want to just swap tips on the suitcase its 2.75 inlet I think you would need.

A 4.5" dual outlets do fit in the rear fascia.

I've replaced the oem exhaust system on every car I've owned. But on my new SS I don't think I'll be touching it. Aside from the insane costs ($2K-$3K), their seems to be very little to gain by doing so. If anything, I'll pay my local muffler shop $100 to cut out the rear cats, but doubt I'll even do that. This is the best sounding oem setup I've ever heard outside of some Italian exotic costing 5X as much.
