Unlock button & trunk release button issues

Hello fellow members, I recently noticed that my unlock button and trunk release button in the car stopped working. I can lock the doors, but nothing happens when I press the unlock button. Same with the trunk release on the drivers side panel. Is there a troubleshooting method I could use to see if it's a faulty wire or switch? Or how can I test to see what the problem is ?

Flip the back seat down if you have a coupe and crawl in and pull the handle to open it first. I think there is a upper switch for the light, its been a while since I read a post on this., but its would seem the wiring to the lock would be the first place I would look to see if something happened to the wiring harness. You did not mention if its not working on the remote FOB. And I would check the fuse boxes and take out and replace or at least visually inspect the fuse by removing, there is also a fuse box in the trunk under the passenger sail panel cover on the right of the trunk that's where fuses for NPP dual mode exhaust is and other things , then there is the fuse box in the engine bay of course. Good luck maybe a search on the internet could yield some results.

How old is the battery ? What year is your car ? As batteries get weak the cars start to do some weird crap some times .

I forgot to mention that everything works fine with my FOB, I just have the issues when I try to use the buttons in the car. I'll definitely check out the trunk area and inspect the fuses, thanks for the advice !!

I just replaced the battery last year, so I think it should still have some juice in it. It's a 2010

My trunk release would not work. The switch in the door was bad. Replaced and works fine now.

Second vote for the door switch. If the FOB trunk release works, then all wiring, fuses, etc. to the trunk release mechanism are good. It's either a faulty switch, or the electrical plug at the back of the switch has come off.

Check if both door switches are doing this. then check the one under the radio.
Chances are its only the wiring going to one door.
Did you buy this car used? if so someone probably put a T-Tap on a harness that has broken the wires.
Good luck

Wow what dijivu, I just went through EXACTLY what you described; Trunk release button on door didnt work & couldnt unlock it with door button. PS my batt was from July 2018 and I hadn't had a single batt issue in the yr I've owned it

Short answer is YOU NEED A NEW BATTERY
Long answer is my two recent threads...

My trunk button on the door was intermittent, then just quit. Never thought this was the answer, but replaced my battery and now the trunk button is back to working. Who knew the 8 year old OE battery was an issue!
