Well we should fall in line with another sore subject and just ban cars and sue auto manufacturers that make them, and the dealers that sell them.

Don’t worry, self driving cars are coming that will regulate speed and movement. Insurance companies will eventually make it so expensive to self drive that people will just give in. Fuel cost for those evil ICE vehicles will make it all prohibitive to drive them.
In the meantime you can buy your 18 year old a 1000 plus hp electric or gas car that will almost assuredly kill them, others or both within 24 hrs of ownership.
Just like guns, you have to have some common sense, proper training and guidance. Some people regardless of what the propaganda machines are spitting out should not be permitted to own either. Life is a gift, you should prove your worth to society before you are allowed to take it away from others.

To most people driving is a chore. They will "give in" like people "gave up" scrubbing their own laundry.

Like I said. You won't find any statistics but you will see articles that say the passenger was killed by (enter cause) when they couldn't get out of their seat belt.

Yes, vehicles are technically safer for the occupants now than they were in the late 80s and early 90s but things still happen.

I agree that wearing your seat belt is fundamental and I'm not arguing that. But if they were 100% safe then there would be no need to carry around a knife or some sort of cutter to cut the seat belt as there is a chance it will not unbuckle after an accident plus all buses would have them.

Tragic, senseless accident with far more fatalities and injuries than you would anticipate given the appearance of the vehicles. If I didn't know better, I would have guessed that no one sustained serious injury.
