'Shift to park' msg- just position sensor?
'18 zl1 - (becoming more frequent)... when i shift into park i get the above msg, and have to wiggle the shifter a bit to get the car to realize it IS in park.
Is this(i'm hoping) a relatively inexpensive position sensor? Anyone with this issue? Solutions? 34k miles. No mods. No codes(no light on) |

Oddly enough, I have this same issue in my 18 Malibu. I want to say it is the shifter assembly, but i do not know.
Have you had the shifter ever our of the car (or the trim around it?), I thought mine was caused when I disassembled it and wrapped the wood trim to brushed aluminum. Started happening after I reassembled it |

I put an aftermarket carbon fiber knob on and it was the cam up inside the knob getting 'sticky' to the point the shifter mechanism spring could not push it back.
The carbon fiber process had left some crud up in there and I had to take it back off, remove the knob cap, and clean it out with a screwdriver.
