Forward collision alert - no off?

Is there a way to shut off the forward collision alerts? It's very aggressive..

I've owned the car for 3 years and it just started this alerting in the past month or so and I cannot find a way to permanently turn it off...

On your infotainment screen, tap Settings, Vehicle, Collision/Detection System, Forward Collision System, Off.

This is from a generic "Chevy" Youtube video, so I'm not 100% sure this setting is available in the Camaro. I think I remember seeing it in mine.

Mine is on the left side of the steering wheel. I turn it off every time I drive it.

NHTSA is proposing mandatory automatic braking systems on all light vehicles. You will have less control and be happier for it!

Yep, this works. Just push the button on the steering wheel until it turns off. No need to go through settings like I mentioned earlier.

I don't think this turns off the feature permanently. I've tried this before and it will default to ON every time you start the car.

Now imagine the car suddenly jamming on the brakes while you're on a icy road.

Right, but OP was asking for a permanent solution.

The very idea behind these safe designs is that there is no way to permanently disable them, because if there were, the manufacturer would not receive the same evaluation/credit/rating etc. for the vehicle in some tests/certifications that matter to them (financially).

This is why one can't disable skip shift, AFM and now frontal collision warning out of the box (auto stop/start is another one in other cars).

It would be nice if HPTuners or some other company were able to reverse engineer the software and allow proper configuration, but of course it's difficult because these solutions are locked down pretty hard out of a morbid fear of liability, instilled by thousands of frivolous lawsuits by people trying to score a quick buck. It's not unlike inflation, once this "price" goes higher, it hardly ever comes back down.

I'm sure they make one for the Camaro too. Few minute install and never have to remember to do it again.
