I can’t find an exact answer through search, so I’m sorry for starting a thread about this old of a topic. I’ve been playing around with the LC settings, and on the M6 at least, it seems to be pretty bad with stock tires at the street pressures. I’ve tried it for a while on my ‘23, and it usually blows the tires away, bogs, or both. I’ve tried auto and various custom settings as well. I found that setting it to ~2500 with ~6.5% slip can sometimes get it to 3.9.

Today, I just gave up and launched it myself with the TC still on and got a 3.8 on the first try, and I’m no hotshoe on launches. I got 3.8-4.0 on several non-LC attempts, I found the best so far to be a 4000RPM start, quick clutch release, and keep the RPM from dropping below 2500. I’m trying find a decent method to keep from slipping the clutch, I’ve noticed it doesn’t take hardly any slipping for it to smell.

My car doesn’t have the surface type setting like some that I’ve seen on here, I’m guessing that’s no longer available. My options are automatic LC, or custom with RPM and slip % only. The car is 100% stock for now, I’m trying to avoid dropping tire pressure from normal to the drag race recommendation in the HPM. I drive hundreds of miles at a time when I do take the car, so I keep tire pressure at the door sticker recommendation. Any tips on launching, whether with or without LC? Thanks for any advice.

EDIT: I have seen that LC works as a 2-step and builds boost, so that’s probably just too much for stock tires. Maybe someone out there has a better idea than me.

1. do not tear your clutch up
2. It can really take while to learn the vehicle and constant changing conditions kill that.
3. Even an automagic can have the same problems
4. You need to get it to a place where you can get consistent launches and reverse learn.

The M6 doesn’t have an adjustable launch control. The A-10 has it so you can adjust the launch rpm etc. Do you have a M6 or a A-10?

The manual very much does have an adjustable launch control. My car is an M6.

That’s interesting, I have a 2020 2 SS 1LE and there isn’t any adjustments you can make to the launch control. Can you take a picture of your dash that shows what options you have?

The factory launch control in the ZL1, for both manual and auto, is just a meh design by GM.

The OP didn’t say which model he has so that’s why I was asking. The SS or SS 1LE M6 doesn’t have any adjustment.

I could never get it to work right.. didn't matter what tires. Looks cool on spec sheet, implementation takes secret hand shake to get right that very few can ever get right.

That’s kind of what I was afraid of. Being able to build boost on the line with the stock 2-step may be helpful for a drag tire setup though, so I’ll keep it in mind if I ever get there.

It is pretty funny that GM lets people walk in off the street, buy a 650hp car, and just drive away with no knowledge of how to get the most out of the car or properly use the power it has. Seems like a recipe for disaster

When I bought my RS3, the Audi dealer sat in the car with me for like 45min going over how to do everything. It was annoying at the time - I just wanted to go, but looking back on it, it was great that they make you sit through that intro session.
