Considering trading my A10 5.0 for LT1

Longtime lurker, first time signing in since 2016. I own a 19' base 5.0 with 32k and I owe $17k. Trade in value is in the low $30k range and from my understanding I would receive roughly $12k for trading her in. The car has lowering springs and an MBRP race catback. Will be reverted back to stock.

I probably wouldn't trade it if I hadn't racked up the miles, but I like the idea of turning it in and using the $12k to boost credit even further and order an LT1. I've seen LT1s listed as low as $37k. Have not driven the Camaro yet, but I definitely would before pulling the trigger. It may sound silly, but I don't want to pay off this Mustang for $17k while at 32,000 miles. I want an LT1 and keep the miles low.

I bought a 94 C4 LT1 with 80k for $10k last year and to be honest I think I like it more than the Mustang lol. I love the Gen 3 Coyote and I feel the mustang is a good daily, but in my experience Chevy's are more comfortable and the chassis is more sophisticated.

My Mustang was the cheapest base auto 5.0 in the country in January 2020, $31,800 OTD. I will find myself in more debt with a new Camaro, but I don't want to keep this Mustang anymore as I owe $17k and have 32,000 miles.

What I'm asking is if this makes enough financial sense for you all to make the same decision. I will be driving a 6th gen and C7 before deciding which vehicle I would rather have besides the 5.0.

I have a second vehicle, C4, mortgage, and everything else I need in life. The Camaro or C7 is a want. What this comes down to is I don't want to spend $17k paying off this Mustang with 32,000 miles. Sorry for being all over the place. Thoughts and opinions based on finances, Camaro vs Mustang and C7. I have an X Type Jaguar to pick up the kids to keep the miles off an LT1 or C7.

Think about how you’ll use the car. I own both my ‘17 2SS and a new ‘22 5.0 GT Premium as well. For any kind of road course racing or autocross driving the Camaro chassis and suspension are better IMO. The Mustang is setup softer from the factory and makes for a much nicer weekend tourer if you’re just out cruising with the wife. If you want to drag race the Mustang is cheaper and easier to mod…no contest. I could have made my Camaro’s 1K WHP power level with a Mustang for $20K less FYI but I have no regrets as the Camaro is a fantastic performance car. If track work/road course is your game, then an SS or 1LE Camaro is the way. Just my 2 cents…everyone will have an opinion on this one lol.

Thumbs up

You will love the interior and exterior looks of the C7 Stingray, also the close to the floor driving experience would feel more sporty than the other two, that you mentioned. The exhaust sound of the Camaro sounds better compared to the Stingray. I would chose a SS over the LT1 because it has better suspension, wider tires and improved brakes compared to the LT1. The only thing that you would miss from your Mustang GT 5.0 is the nice better sounding exhaust sound that I consider superior to the one on those GM vehicles, but the handling performance is inferior compared to the C7 and 6th gen Camaro.
