Anyway, I reached my break in point and went to a stretch of rarely used back highway separated by 1/4 mile of land between oncoming traffic and did a few pulls. Tires were warm and air temps in the high 70's and the stretch of road was flat as a pancake.

The first pull was in track mode /race and using the drag race launch control. At the release of the brake, the car sputtered (I felt like there was a problem) and the car seemed like it was trying but barley moving from 0-35ish, then after about 35 mph it laid me back in the seat through the 100 mph pull. Times were 4.50 at 60 mph and 8.50 at 101.

The second pull, I held the TC button down for 5 secs in track mode which turned off both ESC
and Traction control (all on me). I launched similar to the first run, I came to a complete stop, hit the throttle and couldn't keep the tires from spinning (38 psi per the dic) so I just aborted!

Third pull, still set in track mode with ESC and Traction control off, I launched with part throttle and was full throttle by 35 mph. Needless to say, the 0-60 was bad just like the 1st pull but the 60 to 100 was an exact duplicate of the 1st pull using launch control.

My 2021 2ss 1LE drag race launch was 4.2 to 60mph from timer (which was the 1st and only drag launch I did ever with the car, which was also on a back road). However, it never fell on its face and sputtered like the ZL1 which only had a 4.5 0-60 using the drag race launch control.

I suppose the ZL1 just needs some traction to keep the nannies from kicking in?

Your 60-100 mph split of 4.0 seconds is about right for an A10 ZL1 in warm air. It matches what Car and Driver got exactly. Motortrend was 3.9 sec. My car has been 3.8-4.0 sec 60-100 depending on temperature. A 4.0 split corresponds to a 125-126 mph trap speed in the 1/4 mile. I wouldn’t worry about the 0-60 split because it’s so traction limited.

Ok, I promised you guys an update and I finally had time yesterday to get my ZL1 up to Nickey for an evaluation. I want to start by saying Stefano and Matt were awesome!!! They went above and beyond to take care of me and my car. They even gave me a great tour of their shop… pretty cool!! Matt and I took the car for an extended test drive where he was able to do multiple pulls and log a bunch of data… After driving the car and reviewing all the data Matt determined that my car is running appropriately for a stock ZL1. Stefano and Matt offered to dyno the car but it didn’t seem necessary knowing that Matt has a very good idea of how a stock ZL1 should run. In my defense I did state that the car did seem to run much better and pull harder after disconnecting the battery over night to reset a possible “low octane” map. After that I guess I was just a little paranoid and hoping to find a little more power. I guess I’m just like a lot of guys on here and want MORE POWER…lol. Anyhow it’s nice to know that my car is running as it should and I’m just a bit of a hypochondriac, and a little crazy. Thanks again Stefano and Matt!!!

Go out and do a couple of the 60-100 mph splits I suggested previously. Let’s see where it’s really at and not just based on feel.

Yes, now that it’s broken-in and I know it’s data log is in parameters, I’ll have to learn how to use the onboard electronics and record some times.

Glad there’s nothing wrong with your car. You’re fortunate to live reasonably close to a top notch tuner and builder.

Glad your ZL1 was okay and I figured it was. You just need to break the engine in more and it will improve with more miles.

It is always nice to meet a fellow enthusiast and car guy. I too am happy for you that your car is opperating as it should. Post up some pictures for the membership to see, it is a good looking ZL1. Have fun and enjoy the car. Stop back for a visit when you are ready for some more power

Thanks Stefano!! I’ll definitely stop in again, maybe we’ll throw it on the dyno just to see… sounds like guys want to know the numbers.
Sometimes I LOVE the subtle Sharkskin color, other times I wish I would have gone with something flashier.

Would the onboard times be accurate considering my 19” ZLE spec tire height is about 1/2” shorter than the OEM 20’s? Does the onboard computer measure the cars speed via GPS or more likely the speedo speed?

It may be a tad off at higher speeds. What I suggest is getting setting a trip with Google maps and see what the speed on it says vs your car speedo at 60 and up to 100.

Then record a couple of 60-100 pulls.

The speed in the PDR is based off what the speedo in the car says.

Another update!! Had the car up to Nickey Performance today for a couple dyno runs. Once again a special thanks to Matt and Stefano for taking car of me, they are awesome to work with!!! Turns out there is nothing wrong with the car, all the numbers came back “normal” for a stock ZL1. It came in at 578 WHP. I guess the tall gears in the M6 manual trans just make it seem to pull less aggressive than the previous A10 ZLE that I owned. Maybe I need to go back to an A10… Anyone with a low mile A10 ZL1 or ZLE looking for a M6 car???
