Recovered stolen Camaro damage

Hello everyone

My 2022 Camaro SS convertible was stolen in Houston,TX a couple days ago and was recovered yesterday by the police. I have not yet seen the car, besides something that obviously could show as damaged, what are things that the thieves could have damaged that could not be easily spotted?

Why are you asking us to guess? Everything is possible.

Because the statute of limitations for stolen vehicles tends to vary in length based on damage incurred (depends on the State), insurance assessments are usually much more detailed.

For example, in Illinois, the statute of limitations is one year for less than $1,000 in damage and three years for more than $1k. My 2014 Accord was stolen in 2016 and the insurance assessment took an hour and had the car on a lift to inspect every aspect. $6k was found and repaired.

Lots of things, first thing I thought of was curb rash and bald tires. Hopefully it’s bad enough to get a new car.

Anything and everything could be damaged on your Camaro.

let the insurance handle it, make sure they inspect everything.

Not asking anyone to guess for me. Just wanted someone who may have experienced something like this to chime in.

I would tell the insurance company to keep it and pay you out. Then go and find a different one. I would never keep it with what was probably done to it.
