longtubes with stock NPP Exhaust is Amazing
Just in case anyone is on the edge of getting long tube headers do it. I have done literally nothing to my car except long tubes at the moment and it sounds Insane and the difference between stealth and track mode is MUCH bigger now. I think stealth mode actually sounds quieter than stock headers did and track mode is insanely loud especially for keeping the NPP exhaust.
Haven’t experienced droning or anything of the sort it’s just been super fun. I got Kooks 2” headers with OEM cat connections |

I went Kooks headers and green cats while keeping stock NPP exhaust as well. Im happy with the sound improvement.

I don't believe I see a way to post up video I have from home of cold start. Here is one from the shop that did the work when on dyno. May give you some idea of sound. Facebook video from shop: https://www.facebook.com/LateModelDo...32583344700620

to me that's the ultimate set up, best of both worlds.
I test drove a 1le with kooks & complete aftermarket system. Sounded just like Nascar amazing sounds but living with that everyday would get old |

The engineers did an amazing job with the factory exhaust and is one of the best things about the car.
I added Kooks headers with cats also going into the factory NPP. I was a bit concerned at first as it is FREAKING LOUD on a cold start. But gets quite when it idles down. I am used to it now and it is awesome. And once you get your car tuned for the headers, it really lets the LT1 flow. Above 5000 rpm, with headers, the power and torque gains are incredible and power and torque do not drop off anywhere near as much as with the factory manifolds. |

I'm going to wait until I get most of the way through my warranty before I do something that I have to tune. One thing I have been curious about is passing inspection and emissions. Do you have the stock cats put back on or are you using aftermarket? I have seen so many mixed answers to this, I would rather not have any issues trying to get car inspected with modified upstream exhaust. This is the route I do want to take, I love the sound of the stock NPP.

Stock cats will not mate up to long tube headers. So you go with aftermarket, I used Kooks green cats, or you go catless. You having emissions inspections will need aftermarket im guessing. Whether your state will give you any hassles I can not comment on. I live in Va.

Thanks. I was hesitant for quite awhile on having them done. Once done it was one of those "never should have waited" moments.

So what headers will keep the same sound but louder? I don’t want it to be any deeper I like the higher pitch that the NPP has.
