tax is cheaper than a long block out of warranty

I'd gladly pay it instead of cags/afm

A well optioned GT/5.0 is now north of 60K

The whole car pricing industry, and not even just new, used as well, has been "out of hand" for a while now. I'm sure FoMoCo's marketing team was looking at the available cross shoppable completion and figured these prices were at least competitive.

All below are "well optioned" in my mind:
2023 Z Performance - $53,649
2023 GR Supra 3.0 Premium - $59,965
M240i Coupe - $54,975
M2 Coupe - $63,450
M440i Coupe - $64,600

With Challenger gone and Camaro in an abbreviated year, they're likely weren't even brought up.

Exactly. Drop an AFM lifter and let me know how far $1300.00 goes at the dealer lol.

pfft, I guess if you can't afford a $100k F-150 you settle for a $70k Mustang.

I agree. But at the same time, as a business, they know they'll sell every one of them they build, regardless. And I suppose they're also counting on the idea of "Well... what else are they going to buy?" Whether or not the buying public sees it for what it is or not, remains to be seen.

It does make one wonder exactly how insane the MSRP will be for the eventual GT500 successor.

Bingo. An “overpriced” option is superior to NO option…!

At the point I spend 70K on a car that's performance is 10 years old, I will switch, and maybe that is their angle. But I have my gas burner for now and for less, so sure.

Well, as pricing of the '24 Mustangs seemed to be high enough to be mostly unreasonable, at least according to several posters here, apparently gm had a "hold my beer" moment.

I currently have a deposit/order for a 2023 2ss 1le. If my order had not gone through for 2023 I would have ordered a mustang instead after this msrp increase. The 6th gen camaro is exactly the same car it was in 2016 with an irrelevant exception (because I would get a manual) for the 10 speed upgrade. The camaro, being a parts bin car has already made its r&d money early in the car’s history. With the mustang at least I would be getting a new interior/design and new gen iv coyote which is most likely better than the lt1 at this point. Yes the chassis is still inferior but the other stuff makes up for it.

The mustang also still has the garbage Chinese 6 speed manual, unless you get into the dark horse with the Tremec. That is absolutely ludicrous, especially for a refreshed model and even if you pay extra for the performance package. I had a new mustang ordered. I changed my mind, backed out and now I’m getting a ZL1. Outside of the new screens on the mustang (which I honestly don’t give two sh*ts) about, the Camaro is still a better overall performance car. I buy my cars for the fun factor and the performance. If nice or fancy materials were terribly important to me… I assure you that neither the mustang nor the Camaro would be in the discussion.

The dark horse I spec'd costed more than the ZL1 I bought. NVTS!
