Tracking

I’m looking for advice on how to find a nearby track. I’m interested in tracking my car soon and have no idea where to look. When I search maps near Fort Wayne, Indiana I only see some motorbike tracks a small circle track and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Would an amateur like me pay for laps at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway or are there tracks made for amateurs and up scattered about I cannot find? I don’t want to go in circles, I want a track with many twisty turns. Thanks!

Ok these are some track events within 300 miles of Fort Wayne IN. Most venues use www.motorsportreg.com to register.

https://www.motorsportreg.com/calend...loc=Fort+Wayne

On the other hand there are a few that you have to register DIRECTLY like NASA, THE EDGE, and THE CHIN TRACK group.

I am in Fort Wayne, we have gingerman in South Haven MI, Putnam Park down around Indy, Mid Ohio, google midwest track days and plenty of events will come up. CGI goes up to Gingerman once a month but they probably don't have any novice slots.

Thank you! I’ll check them out. My car wants to go fast so bad I swear it accelerates on its own sometimes lol.

Those look perfect. Road America in Plymouth, WI looks awesome too.

Look into 10/10ths Motorsports if you have never done track days. As a Novice you get an instructor to ride with you for a while. They are very newbie friendly. Plus, they have events at Putnam just west of Indy.

Ya I am going to need coaching. I’ve been reading into stuff and got a bit overwhelmed. It seems I might need membership in some clubs to participate? There’s likely some sort of certification I must attain to be admitted. I can’t imagine they would let a novice like me play mario kart on their track.

A Tracking 101 class is a must because I can hardly digest everything I’m reading from event entry requirements to track day preparations and procedures.

I know I will need to have my supercar 3’s installed on track days and whatever alignment/suspension/fluid changes need done. Do they do all that on site or will I be driving with a track setup 100-200 miles getting there since I don’t have a trailer?

We’ll, I have a month before 1,500 miles so I have at least that long to get this all sorted out.

Nothing to be overwhelmed about it just something you haven't done before but there is plenty of info available. I have a 2LT RS LGX 6M and what I do is complete flush with SRF brake fluid, change out to track pads, bed them a couple days before track day, they squeal but who cares. Put in fresh recommended track oil which for the LGX is 0w30. Beginning of season I change rear end fluid and manual trans fluid. I bought a set of SC3 and rims and swap out every summer. I don't worry about alignment I am not running that hard. I track with CGI and they are non competitive and it sounds like several other groups are also very beginner friendly. Novices get in car teachers that will show you the ropes and I know at CGI I ran novice until I felt comfortable and was approved to move into intermediate and I'm sure others are the same. Unfortunately I can't make it to any track days this year but plan on hitting the track again next year after either modding my current car or getting into an SS. I keep a checklist I keep so I don't forget stuff.
