So the performance badge was the result of the 1st 1000 cars that were inspected by the performance design team QC dept when the 5th gen went into production. This was not your avg. QC check done on the remaining cars and my 5th gen failed 3 times, I have the paperwork. My car is number 859 and was an early activity car ordered in 2008. No other 5th gen cars received the badge for some years as this Inspection was no longer performed. Somehow the badges started showing up on Ebay. Not sure if it had anything to do with it but shortly after they started showing up on certain Camaros and Corvettes. I asked Oppenheiser (Chief 6th gen design engineer) about this and he confirmed the design team inspection. I spoke with the design team in Texas when they presented the 1st 6th gen sold order at Texas Motor Speedway. I cant remember the guys name who got the 1st sold order but here is a pic of Danica Patrick presenting him with the keys. Oppenhieser is on the right. Danica signed the inside of his glove box, I think I would have just stuck that car in storage, LOL.

Not an SS item. I have a factory installed one on my RS 1LT. I added the one on my cold air.

That’s interesting history, thank you.

I have one on mine and I also have one inside the glove box not installed. There is also one not installed, but inside the glove box with manual.

Just went & checked, my wife's 2022 2SS & my 2013 2SS both have the little silver performance badge under the hood.

Checked

Definitely have the badge on the 23 1SS and I recall my 21 1SS had it as well. I always thought it is kinda kool.

All 2010 5th gen SS produced until around Oct-Nov 2009 had this badge. I thought it was the Chev one but turns out it was the GM perf one. I ordered my car in May 2009 #26251 and was delivered in July. It returned as the Chev perf badge with the ZL1 in 2012 and was on all SS starting in 2013. Not sure which trims are included for 6th gen. Later 2010s, 2011s, and 2012s were produced without this badge, but yes, that badge started showing up on ebay around that time.
