I guess I should specify a couple things. My 1ss, it being a 16 and having roughly 50k on it will bring below 25k on trade in. If I go for a new 1le I’m looking at roughly 25k to upgrade. While less than a used zl1, it’s still a big chunk of change for a car that I don’t believe to be too different from my current car. It will however be much newer, have a full track warranty, and last me longer in life so it might be worth the 25k. I also never bought a new car in my life and I feel like this is the only chance I will get as I’m generally really frugal and I absolutely will not buy a brand new “beater” car in my life.
Also want to point out, when I do track days, I’m only there for a good time. I’m not tryin to race or anything like that. I just enjoy being able to go wot without worrying about getting pulled over haha. Pulling 1G in turns in that type of atmosphere is also fun too. I think I’m leaning towards getting the 1le. I think I might get into trouble with 650 hp. Now I need to decide if I should hope to just find one in transit or order one. I definitely want shadow gray metallic which makes finding one or ordering one tough Because if I order one and it gets pushed to 2024, I heard that color is getting dropped. |

Just dropped off my ZL1 1LE at the dealer and taking delivery of a SS 1LE this saturday.
I have many reasons... I don't use the power of the ZLE and I am over the suspension. I want more daily fun and the ZLE did not deliver that. I want to get back into autocross but not heavily.. will be more of my cruiser fun car than anything. Mega excited for the downgrade !

If instead you accept a certain amount of power as sufficient, you can still have fun with that (especially on the road). The 1LE opens up other doors for track use. Because it's such a good platform, you can choose (or not!) to make your hobby trying to improve your track driving skills, and in-so doing, take the car closer and closer to edge of cornering control (the limit). It can be quite a rush to explore those last couple of tenths, and learn/master how to get control back if you slightly exceed it. Good luck with your purchase! |

Your planning on having kids soon, make the "smarter" of the two fun options and get an SS 1LE with warranty. You'll have peace of mind, and the freedom to hit trackdays without worrying of a failure.

If you see them around, send them over. It's no longer at the dealer, I am going to private party sell it now.
