Steering wheel buttons not working + issues

Bought myself a 2017 Camaro SS Manual Salvaged with 30k miles (so no dealership warranty) for a really good deal, but it has some issues.

Steering wheel buttons don’t work at all. Only cruise control which is the one to click to turn it on but not to set it. I’ve tried using it and it’s only worked one time and the rest of the times I’ve tried using cruise control it won’t set. None of my other buttons work. My rev match and horn both work.
My car is also slightly misfiring but no CEL. And I am getting trash mpg (but can’t check because my steering wheel controls don’t work lol)

Codes being thrown (but no CEL)

P0580-00 : Cruise Control Multifunction Switch Circuit Low Voltage
U0422-71 : Invalid Data Received From Body Control Module
C0914-02 : Control Module Voltage Output 1 Circuit
C0800-03 : Control Module Power Circuit

Anyone have these issues/codes as well? Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!

Probably best to swap out the steering wheel control switches to see if the piece is broken or the wiring

Listen, I don't know crap, so buyer beware. Have you checked how old you battery is? Could a battery going bad cause this?

Also, why was the car salvage? If it was a flood car I would expect this kinda stuff and more.

Any way to test it ? I mean the buttons seem to click and such but don’t work. Cruise control one did but didn’t.

I’ll check my battery to be safe; because my crank up start is kinda slower than it should be. It was front end damage

You need a factory service manual so that you can do the proper checks on the system. Even then you are going to hit a dead end when it comes to module replacement as those have to be programed, unless you have your own pass through device and a subscription to GM's service system. The manual for that model is available on CD for pretty cheap on eBay. You will also need a quality scanner that can look at the body control modules.

With frontal damage, I expect air bag deployment. If that was the case, it could have damaged the buttons.

I was thinking about taking my wheel off to check buttons first, since that seems like it could’ve been something not plugged back in or so. But I literally can’t find anything about buttons not working. It’s usually everything but not my case.

If you don’t know what you’re doing, you may want to rethink taking the wheel off. There’s a specific procedure so that the clock spring isn’t damaged….if you damage that, you’ll have a more pressing issue. It may even be the cause of some of your issues.

I don't have the knowledge or tools to work on the modern cars with all the electronics and such. I can only imagine that buying a car with a salvaged title could be a huge can of worms. There had to be enough damage to it for the insurance company to total it. That means what 70% of it? Good Luck, hope you're able to figure it out.

I would start by hitting ebay and getting a service manual.
As easttxss points out, I think you will need a tool which can communicate with body control modules. There are various clone tools available. Some of these will do SPS programming, although I am not sure about VIN delete and relearn.

Is there obvious damage you can report to us? Like underhood and interior, particularly the instrument panel and steering wheel?
I would try to find out what happened to this car. I would not start taking things apart without more information. Hate to open up a steering wheel only to find you have a bad module above the brake pedal which is much easier to get to.

Car had front end damage that didn’t look too severe, and was right before car market shot up so it seemed at its lowest value and it was salvaged. No frame damage looked as it was just a bumper fenders and headlights / front end. I’m just confused because usually u won’t have any functions working but my auto rev match works and my cruise control will turn on and off but won’t set speed to actually work. But it worked one time when I was driving and randomly tried it. don’t know if that sounds like a clockspring (I think it’s called) in the steering wheel or if it could be a short somewhere. I cleared codes and only the c0800-03 stayed.

No resolution yet. But I’m assuming something is either disconnected or unplugged. Not sure but will probably get it diagnosed
