The best hour I spent
It took longer to jack it up then to change the pads.

Oh yeah. When I took delivery of my SS I ran the OEM pads for about 400-500 miles and they were infuriating. They would dust just putting the car back in the garage after washing! Those Z26 pads will cut the dust by 95%.

Put the same lads on my 2023 Z51 Stingray, as the wheels were gloss black, with incredible amounts of dust.
Have now ordered a set for my ZL1. Best purchase ever!

I may have to consider getting some for my ZL1 when the time comes to change them.

Where is the best place to buy the Z26’s for a ZL1 1LE?

Can anyone recommend some low dusting brake pads made in the USA? I don't want to support the chicoms.

I don't know about made in the USA but Carbotech 1521 will give you nearly the same stopping power as stock and about 50% less dust.

I have not noticed that on mine. There is some difference but, no where near 50%. I would keep stock pads for the track.

After almost six years of putting up with tons of brake dust on my ZL1, I finally bit the bullet and installed the Powerstop pads last summer.
I can't believe it took me six years to finally get fed up with the amount of brake dust from the OEM pads. If you don't track your ZL1, the Powerstop Z26 Street Warrior Pads are fantastic when it comes to reduced brake dust. I really can't tell much of a difference between them and the OEM pads. Maybe a small percentage less bite on initial engagement. For street use, they're fantastic!

I don't mind the dust, it's a performance car and the car has been used as GM intended. But if you are only into straight line racing or car shows or Sunday/nice day drives then sure, change out the pads for some less dust pads.
I just give the wheels a good washing every 3-4 months then apply some armor all brake dust repel after that wash then reapply once a month after spraying the rims with some water. Letting it dry before of course. |
