Slicks with felt wheel liners???
Question for those who are running slicks at the track. I have heard that the felt liners will get destroyed over time from tire snot getting thrown against them repeatedly.

Not sure where you read that, but I've run slicks on my 16 Ss (28x10-17 Hoosiers) and running them now on my 2022 Lt1 and not issues ever. I've run 146 on my 16ss and 142 on my 2022 SC, THPSI Lt1 and never even close to touching. If you caster is off you could touch the inner liner, but if its aligned correctly it should never touch. If your doing a burn out in the water box your gonna pull rubber from a slick or a drag radial. The proper burnout doesn't require destroying the slick or drag radial, in 55 years I've done thousand of burnout in the water box, a little smoke and you should be ready do go.

I was referring to road race tracks with slicks on. When you get off line to pass you pick up a bunch of shredded rubber. The concern is the wiring harness in the rear wheel well getting worn through and wiring getting pelted. I had a guy at the track tell me it's a know issue. That's what I'm asking if anyone else has run into this.

Definitely had some kind of problem. Is that from rubbing? I can see the harness I was talking about through the hole in the liner.
Has anyone relocated the harness or reinforced the liners and or both? |

It's common knowledge that running anything taller than the factory spec tire that it'll do exactly this. Rubbing through the liner and destroying the fuel harness. That's the only liner that has a wire harness running through it. Don't know why GM engineers thought this was a good idea but that's engineers for you. |
