It's fairly common for race pads to have significantly more pad material on them. The OE Ferodo HP1000s don't have a ton of meat new. Based on cvp33's pics of the G-Loc's, I can see they're a lot thicker than the OE Ferodo pads.

Do thicker pads contribute to better stopping power?

Snagged the TBM Front & Rear brake setup and solid bushing for all mounts and new motor mounts. Looking forward to sharing new videos.

Agreed. The additional pad material means the pads will last longer on track. I can rip through a set of OEM pads in a 3 day track event. I suspect those G-Locs will have 1.5x to 2x life, maybe more.

Moved into a new apartment a few weeks ago. Finally getting settled after getting back from travel for work. I have a garage at new apartment which is awesome! However, I just found out that there is no where to wash car as they have no public hoses available. I could probably get away with washing car at a coin operated wash maybe twice a month. Obviously bring my own soap, bucket and microfibers. The rest of the time I will probably be going back to waterless wash, I think I have some ONR somewhere.
I have also had that ticking sound coming from my front driver side wheel under aggressive right turns. I re-torqued the lug nuts to 140ft lbs, two of them moved about a 1/4 turn. The tone of the clicking changed, I think my next step is to clean off the mating surface of the wheel and hub. I might be taking the car to the Tail of the Dragon on Thursday/Friday this week so I'm trying to get that fixed.

That is looking sweet, with zero shoulders to ensure maximum focus, like many of our mountain roads in TN

1) Do they stop better? Yes. Better, more abrasive material that holds up under high heat. 2) Why thicker? Last longer. And while not the reason, thicker pads dissipate heat better, but only for a time. Thinner, older pads just the opposite.
