I saw a video on youtube about removing the plate within the supercharger to make it louder. Anyone do this? Make that much of a difference?

I have and it does make a VERY small difference. If your exhaust is stock, you will probably notice the difference, but if you have aftermarket exhaust and headers, you won't notice.

whats the purpose of this plate? seems like a waste to add if it only reduces noise.

I agree if you do that one, alone, you might/maybe notice something, but that's more likley placebo. But, if you have any of the CAI's and/or an upgraded exhaust it's a waste of your time and effort. I did it so I know it's not worth the trouble.

Its not placebo, there is a noticeable difference but only if you don't already have a loud exhaust which drowns out the supercharger noise.

Small difference can still be noticeable can it not? My point was that it DOES make a difference but it is small. Its not like its going to sound like a Hellcat blower just be removing the damper but that doesn't mean its not noticeable which it is if your exhaust doesn't drown it out. I think it was pretty clear what I wrote, sorry you were confused.

What aftermarket blowers for our cars are loud like Hellcats??

The bigger increase in blower whine for me was having the Kong X porting done. My cars blower whine from about 3500 rpm’s and up is very loud now. Before porting I had to listen for it over my exhaust, and now it screams over the exhaust.

how much does that plate weigh? looks like .25-.5 lbs from the video I seen. I guess if one was going for weight reduction on the little things to add up could be worth it since the sound isn't significant.

I removed mine, couldn't tell anything different. But, I have headers, secondary CAT delete, CAT back with Corsa Xtreme NPP

In kind of a comparison (but not really comparable), I have a friend whom has a 67' Z-28, and I can hear his supercharge when he turned the down my street a block a way ! I'd almost trade him my 2023 Zl1 for his, but his a track ready and probably not street legal!
