Stephen12ZL1 definitely made the right guess about the 1/2 mile. The ZLE that I linked ran 141 in the 1/2, and the normal ZL1 that I linked ran 150 at the 1/2, so obviously, the aerodynamic difference between the 2 is already showing up when the ZLE loses by that much.

Of course a manual ZL1 is going to lose to an A10 ZL1. That's a given. Changes nothing about the 1LE aero having an impact in the 1/4 which has already been proven multiple times.

I'll probably outrun every ZL1 I race up here this year.

LOL! I was just thinking the same thing regarding stock for stock races!
I dont disagree that the 1LE aero has an impact but its VERY minimal in the 1/4. Same can be said for the STOCK suspension between two STOCK cars. I've cut 1.69's with my car and average 1.75's with Toyo 888R's and a best of 11.2 with an average of 11.3-11.4 in the 1/4 mile. My MPH is 124 consistently with some 125's. I'm 250lbs so I'm sure giving up some cheeseburgers would only make me faster! Every STOCK ZL1 ran nearly the same times as I did as in within a 10th of a sec. unless they messed up the launch and ran 12.2's. I ran one guy at Gateway who had drag slicks on the back while I was on Toyo 888R's and I got out 1/2 car out at the tree and we stayed that way nearly all the way down the track. At about 900 to the end, he gained about half that back. I think there might have been 1mph, if that, difference between us on the board. Stock ZL1 vs ZL1-1LE is a drivers race in 1/4 mile. |

I'm considering whether to go to the Toyo are r888r in a 345. What is your power level?

Keep in mind, GM has no wing on the COPO's, the car they built just for the purpose of drag racing. More important than the wing, is likely the DSSV suspension and its inability to transfer weight as good as the mag ride in the cushy "tour" mode.

Off the showroom floor they are essentially the same, 11.5. I do not know of a comparison of two cars with the same build racing each other. In fact, they probably don't exist. As I said above, I doubt I will lose a heads-up race to a Gen 6 ZL1 up here this season. Does that mean the 1LE is a better drag car? No, it simply means I have more power. Although I can't support it, I would concede that in a 1/2 mile race between bone stock cars, the ZL1 should be a bit quicker, but no one races 1/2 mile.
