It shows that there were 3,616 2SS coupes built It shows that of those, 1,054 had the 1LE package And it also shows that of those 3,616 2SS coupes built, 822 had a manual transmission. And that 386 of the 2SS cars built were in Rapid Blue. What it doesn't seem to show though, is the relationship. For example, I don't see how many of those 386 Rapid Blue 2SS vehicles had the 1LE package. Or how many were manual versus automatic. Or how many had all 3 variables (1LE, manual transmission, and in Rapid Blue). Unless I'm reading this wrong (which very well could be), while it gives the totals for each category, you can't see anything more specific than that.

You are right, GM are not giving out the groupable/filterable, precise option level information about trims. I never really understood why, but nobody has been able to wring that out of them since I'm on this board, which is mid-2017.

I just got the same sort of breakdowns for the 2021 3LT's. I was surprised by how quickly the data came - I emailed the request to the Heritage Center after-hours and had a response by the next morning (Pacific Time, at least). Similar to the chart posted by the OP, it splits the production numbers for coupes and convertibles, then gives the number of cars produced with the various options for each body style.
Of potential interest to this discussion, there were only eleven 3LT A1X (aka 1LE) coupes produced during the 2021 model year. Last edited by The Maverick; 03-03-2023 at 08:51 AM. |

Because my car is a 1SS I've focused more on those numbers, but the differences in the breakdown of packages and transmissions between the 1SS and 2SS coupes is also interesting. I've already discussed the percentages of 1SS coupes vs 2SS coupes with the 1LE package as will as the same percentage breakdown for manual v. auto transmissions in a previous post. Because my car is Rapid Blue I was looking at the differences in the percentages of cars that were produced in Rapid Blue. Fifteen percent of 1SS coupes and convertibles were built in Rapid Blue. However, only 10% of 2 SS coupes and convertibles were produced in Rapid Blue. Still my biggest take away from the numbers is that almost half (47%) of 1SS coupes produced in MY 22 came with the 1LE package. And more than one-third (38%) of the 22 1SS coupes are manuals. To me that confirms that not only is the 1LE package an awesome option, but also that the 1SS is the performance and enthusiast sweet spot for the Camaro in terms of bang for the buck. That's why percentage wise it has the highest percentage of both for the 22 MY.

can't wait to see the 23 numbers, with all the constraints the numbers on the 1LE will be even lower.

I always shake my head when a YouTubers say “manual is the best”, or “banging gears”. Most people would rather not bang gears as the data proves. I have driven manual my whole life and have never enjoyed the labor of it.

It's not labor to those of us who enjoy it. It provides a measure of driving engagement not found in any automatic. While automatics are definitely faster these days, that's not really the point for those of us who enjoy driving manuals.
