A couple weeks back, I installed an MBRP axle back. I don't drive the zl1 often, and I almost never start it up early in the morning or late at night. I live in a condo here, so my neighbors are all close. We're at the base of a big hill and open space area.

Last week, at like noon, I opened the garage and fired up the zl1. About a minute later, I get a text from the young married couple across the street. "Hey, random question, but did you just start your car? We're hiking in the hills and heard a very loud noise up here coming from the direction of our neighborhood"

Literally every 3rd home here has a Tesla or other EV now. There is nothing close to the zl1, other than 1 neighbor's turbo diesel truck (stock, but pretty loud). So far, no one has complained, but I need to be on my best behavior

My old roommate who had a 2002 SLP SS Camaro did a cat delete and installed these things called BOOM-tubes. I have yet to hear a louder exhaust. His car was all stock mine the exhaust. He worked in the mornings and the neighbor across the street told him that ever since he got that exhaust put on, he has never needed to use his alarm clock, because when my roommate left at 530am, it would wake him up from a dead sleep. https://spintechmufflers.com/boom-tube/

Funny, Mine is very loud at startup also. But my neighbors are car lovers!

One day I got a call from my wife on my way to work and thought what did I forget? I was about 1.5 miles away from our house and she said what are you doing? I said going to work. She said it sounds like your racing, I can hear you! I said oh yeah a mustang tried to pass me and I couldn't resist? LOL

WOW! This is a great subject !

So I just finished the install of my Long Tube Headers, Ultra Flow CATs and Corsa NPP exhaust. My wife God love her, she's clueless about cars, especially muscle cars! Any way, I was test driving my new setup this weekend. When I got back from test driving. She said, hey your car seems awful loud, did you make it that way on purpose! I said nah, it's just in track mode. She said, "Well track mode seems really really loud". Then later that afternoon I was cruising the neighborhood and data logging with HPTuners, and I get from my her. She said, "Hey, where are you at right now?" I told her, and she said, "Yeah, I am 2 blocks away and I can here your car, you should probably not use that track mode thing" !!! I replied to her, "WOW, I did get right parts"!

So funny! Good stories !

Also, I got some great advice from other members here! I press my start button for 10 seconds (no foot on the break), Give full accessory/controls etc. Then I can switch my car in Snow/Ice mode. When I start it up is forces the valves closed immediately vs the default Touring mode when the values are open for the first 5 seconds then close.

I live between two idiots who let their dogs bark any time and all the time. I couldn't give a toss what they think of the kind of noise I make.

BUT - I still start Fury with the garage door closed, lol. Heck - it only amplifies the sound of the Bald Eagles for me anyways, so win-win.

Im in an HOA. It has been fine so far...in fact, I have reported a couple neighbors for leaving their dogs outside barking all day, and that has remedied the issue (I work from home, so it's very annoying). But, with that said, I also need to be careful not to piss off the neighbors and get an hoa letter myself

That's how it begins, it's all benign and fun and games until the HOA elects an enthused karen as their new president, and then you are in a world of trouble...

I for one would want to just go and talk to the neighbors about their dogs instead of farming this "enforcement job" out to a third party. Now, to show that I don't just preach this, we had a neighbor back in NJ who objected senselessly and annoyingly to the new exterior color combination my wife wanted for the house, to the point of harassing and trying to threaten us, so I went over to him and we eventually managed to come to an understanding—I told him I lived with my wife and not him, so that takes care of my priorities about the paint job, but we did agree to change one of the colors slightly, and he stopped the nonsense.

Of course this isn't always possible with people, I'm not naive, but I'd rather keep trying than empowering some kind of local micro-police that can so easily turn into a self-serving body of enforcement, getting themselves on my deed and blackmailing me about petty crap.

Good for you, I'm a dog animal lover, but yapping dogs , because of irresponsible brain dead owners ,If I had that situation , would be listening to my car and more.

I'm going to have my Z with headers and Borla S-type tuned next week and will have them change the tune to valves closed at startup. Corvettes start with valves closed, the Camaro engineers decided not to do that. Probably seemed like a good idea until the headers and aftermarket exhuasts go on.
