I absolutely love my car. The visibility is just great- it lends itself to the muscle/sports car feel. The storage is more than adequate, combining trunk and rear seat area folded down. The high belt line on the doors adds a feeling of security from a side impact collision. And finally this is not a 4 person seater, this is a two seat muscle car, meant for going solo, with a buddy or your lady. Don’t think otherwise, or you will just disappoint yourselves.

The Camaro definitely has visibility issues compared to other cars, but you can mitigate a lot of that with proper adjustment of the mirrors, driver seat, and utilizing options such as blindspot monitoring and the rearview mirror camera. I keep seeing people in this car with their driver seat too low. What's with that? The driver seat should be adjusted high enough for you to see over the hood but not too high to hit your head on the roof.
I had been driving my truck around for a while before acquiring the Camaro. It definitely has a claustrophobic feel the first time you sit in it. But I got used to it after a while sitting in the car and playing with the interior.

I feel like that’s something that short people do. If you are around 5’10”-6’, your head would be in the roof. You dont need to see over the hood. You do need to be proactive, not ram the air-dam/splitter into curbs and getting to know the size of the car. Yes, it’s not a econo-box for vis, but you get used to it and adapt. Somehow i dont hit cones when doing autoX and if i was, i definitely wouldn’t be getting trophies.

You get used to it just like people in the 70s who were buying custom vans, or pickup Trucks with curtains in the back windows, or a 71-73 Mustang with almost a flat rear window and the passenger side mirror was an option on most all cars in the 60s and 70s, and in the 20s, 30, 40s and 50s in many cases was not even an option. People just drove them and no one bitched about stuff like that.

The visibility in the 6th gen isn't as great as others, but I've grown accustomed to it and generally don't have any issues. That said, there was never a front facing camera option like on the Corvette. That would really help navigating parking lots, etc. I feel like that's a missed opportunity.

Overall I'm glad it is the way it is and stands out from the sea of other cars, I have no serious complaints whatsoever either.

Indeed, there are several small enhancements that fell victim to cost cutting, which is understandable but still unfortunate. At least Gen5DIY has a perfectly OEM looking, integrated solution to the missing front camera problem.

Sadly, it doesn't look like that's compatible with 2019+ models.

I back into my garage and into parking spots, so I don't need a front camera. I do like the rear parking assist. Without it I'd always be stopping too soon with the car because I'm so used to driving my truck most of the time that has a lot more vehicle behind me.

If you are seriously interested, I suggest that you call them. They developed several new products in the past based on individual user feedback, and I'm sure there are plenty 2019+ owners who would be interested in this.

Hopefully it isn't missing due to some insurmountable encryption or other technical issue with the new software architecture.

Yeah but I guarantee visibility is one of the biggest reasons why it never sold as well as the Mustang or Challenger.



First impressions matter, and when someone's first impression is 'I can't see shit' they are not going to give the car a chance. It's just reality regardless of whether we personally think the visibility is fine.


Literally ever car review mentions the visibility issues as well. You can't read a Camaro review without seeing mention of visibility. It's bad compared to its competitors and I hope GM resolves it if we get a 7th gen.

Now that I have the rear camera in the mirror, I don't like it, don't find it to be useful.
