Displacement on Demand question

I know the DOD is disabled is software in our cars, but is there any track record of the lifters still failing? Is there still a need to do the DOD delete? Or, is it a just do it while you have the motor apart thing?

I haven’t seen any posts about lifter failures in the LT4. Almost everyone who does a cam swap uses a DOD delete kit and changes out the lifters. I’d spend the extra money and remove the DOD lifters if I swapped the cam.

The only real issue with the ZL1 has been the oil pump. Mainly for certain 2017-2018 year model cars. Some 2019s and up have had the issue but much more rare for them.

As Danger said, when someone changes the cam then they swap out the DOD hardware for non DOD hardware. If you have no intention of changing the cam then you still can replace them but it'll still be a couple of thousand to do it.

And since you have a 2017 car, you might as well change the oil pump out too.

I am planning in sending it to Janetty to do a Katech oil pump. I don’t have any intention of doing a cam. I just haven’t heard any word whether to do a DOD delete, unless you were doing a cam.

Yea it is just that since the cam is extensive work that you might as well do the DOD delete.

Very few have had the DOD delete some by itself.

You're fine leaving them in.

All ZL1s, regardless of transmission, have the hardware installed. The software is what GM didn't add to make it active.

Logical since engines are the same.
