How to Keep Track of YOUR Parts on YOUR car

As we modify our cars especially for track purposes, many of these parts are NOT something you can readily look up in a GM parts catalog or website. You can certainly keep all the receipts that you accumulate as you buy parts and then refer back to them when it is time to reorder. The problem here though is those receipts can get lost and there can literally be hundreds of them.

It would also be nice to know what you paid LAST time for that part and who you bought it from. Using My own car as an example attached is a list of the parts I have used on my own car. This list is actually in EXCELL format on my PC and I also have taken a picture of it with my iphone so that it is always with me.

NOTE: The attachment HERE is actually in PDF format so that I could upload it.

For those of you that have INSTANT recall you might not need this but I find it very helpful personally.

Have your Excel spreadsheet in the cloud, and Excel downloaded to your iPhone. That way, you have access to the same file, both on your computer or on your phone. Then you don't have to take pictures of the spreadsheet. I do this with a lot of files, especially work files because my hard drive failed about a year ago and I lost all of my files.

Man, I think I'm better off not knowing what I've spent on parts. I know for a fact it's better my wife doesn't have access to that info also!!!

Well you dont have to include the price in the spreadsheet!!!

I know what you mean though. I once had my wife look at a restoration book I had done on my 69 Camaro. Once she say that, next thing I know it cost me a living room full of new furniture!!! LOL

I do something similar -- I have a Google Sheet with several different sheets. Format and structure is a bit different than yours and perhaps not as comprehensive.

One sheet is essentially a service & mod log. Another sheet has part numbers & prices (mostly brake related). Not shown here, but I also have a sheet with some common torque specs and another sheet which is an HPDE log to keep track of my events.
