GM extended warranty

My 3 year bumper to bumper warranty is up next week.

I can extend it 3 more years and 30k miles for around $2,800. The only problem I’ve had so far is with one of the daylight running lights, which was replaced, but wasn’t the problem. So the car goes back in Monday before the car is out of warranty.

I’m not knowledgeable about the overall reliability of these cars regarding non-power train issues after 3 years, so I’m unsure which way to go. Bear in mind that I have only 18k miles on the car, so I do about 6K miles a year. I guess it would be a different decision if I had 40k miles on the car.

I don’t care about small stuff, but if this DRL was to crap out, it’s $600 just for the part. That kind of repair could be 1/3 the cost of the extended warranty.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

The chances of things breaking will start to rise with the age of the car. You also have to ask, are you going to have the car for another 3 years? If you do plan to have the car for three more years, I would definitely think about extending it. This is rolling the dice, you could get lucky and nothing happens in 3 years and you save yourself $2800 or get really unlucky and well the sky is the limit. I have the 2SS 1LE myself with a ton of electronics and I drive my car A LOT. I will be getting the extended bumper to bumper after the 3 years myself. $77 a month for 3 years for peace of mind if something breaks, just take it into the dealership.

If you decide on getting the warranty, you may try one of the guys they recommend in the thread. It's a little old but they may still be available.

I went with Todd Sutherland and he gave me a great price a bit lower than Dennis and honestly Dennis treated me like crap so went with Todd.

You may have a problem though with getting an extended GM warranty I was told by Dennis that you had to buy it 30days before your factory warranty expired. Not sure if he was yanking my chain to get me to buy but that is what he told me.

I also bought my extended warranty from Todd. He had the best price and was easy to deal with.

Same change has been discussed on the Corvette forum. They changed the "rules" regarding the warranties. Can no longer buy the GM/Chevy plan if your car is out of warranty either, the way I understood it.

I bought one for my 2017 Corvette from Todd 2 years or so ago. Great deal.Half of what dealer quoted.

I just got a 96 month 100k 0 deductible warranty for around $2400.00 from Dennis. I didn’t know about the stipulation of having to buy it at least a month before your 3 year/36k bumper to bumper expires.

Dennis was able to get mine approved by GM even though I only had him check about 2 weeks before mine expired. My car has only about 10k on it and I told him I had all the service records. So I’m not sure if that makes a difference.

Todd wrote me 2 day after I got mine and said it couldn’t be done since it wasn’t at least a month from the in service date.

Mine wasn't expired, but I only had about 2 weeks left. And he was able to get the warranty.
