6th gen repairs
Has anyone had to replace the fuel tank pressure sensor on the 6th gen SS and has anyone had to deal with the "service power steering" alert that pops up on the dash?

Fuel tank pressure sensor is easier to get to than I had suspected. At least you don't have to drop the tank.
from the repair manual: "In right rear wheel well, rear of wheel, on evaporative emission pipe" |

Dealership says it's not covered under my extended warranty and wants $800. I only have 30k miles on the car. Seems like GM should step up and cover it.

You should carefully read every page of your original warranty and your extended warranty. Many times the dealership service people don’t know what’s covered. If that sensor would happen to be part of the emission system, I bet the original warranty might cover it. The GM extended warranty’s often say if an item isn’t mentioned as not covered, then it’s covered. For $800, it’s worth checking.

Yes, read your extended warranty. I would think that would cover a sensor. The federal emissions 8 year warranty only covers major components, so that will not apply.
$800 sounds steep for this. Probably a $20 part you can replace by pulling back the wheel liner. |

Its not a normal wear item. I would fight them. I also have an extended warranty from the dealer. I have over 60k miles on my 17' . Who is backing your warranty? Its usually a secondary company that works with the dealer. |

It's definitely a secondary company out of Memphis. I have never had this happen, but they had to send out an inspector to ok the repair on the steering gear which equals me being without my car for almost 2 weeks now and I haven't even made the first payment.
