I think it’s more of an opinion about the colors. I wanted my car to be all black and I dont know how the orange plate will go on it. I’m not good at visualization

I got my car in Dec 2019 and put it into storage right off the trailer from delivery from Utah. I got the title taken care of right away, but since it had no liability insurance I couldn't register it, so I was waiting until Spring. Then COVID hit and the MI Secretary of State (our "DMV") shut down with no plan to handle this type of stuff. Dealers could still do stuff electronically (IIRC) but anyone buying a car/boat, etc privately was SOL. So, when I put the car on full coverage, I made this plate! I was actually hoping I'd get pulled over as I carried the copy of the title, bill of sale, and insurance, and was just going to give the cop the 'WTF do you want me to do' shrug! I think I drove around for a month with it. I finally got my plate by sending a letter with copies of all the docs to the SoS, with a request for my personalized plate (the MI SoS website allows you to check availability of your request) along with a check for the amount the SoS website calculated.

I wish Florida would redesign their standard plate. The oranges are just boring. We need something with more color that would stand out more.

Sure, for extra money. That's why I said the "standard" plate. Many years ago I paid extra for one of those plates, but really wasn't worth it to me. Get a better design for the standard issue plate.
