Where are all the 2SS allocations going?
More dealers I’ve talked to have ZL1 allocations then 2ss like where are they going? What could be limiting the 2ss that doesn’t limit the ZL1?
Has it always been this hard to order a 6th gen Camaro? |

The dealership I ordered from picked up a ZL1 that was ordered a few days before me, its been several weeks since then and my 2SS 1LE still hasnt been picked up.
To answer the last part of your question, no it definitely was not always this hard. Look below at my 2019 order and how quick it was.

My dealer is getting everything but 2SS allocations. I've been #1 in line for a 2SS with them for 3 months now.

I was waiting for an allocation for a 2SS since March 2022 and just gave up in November 2022, went to a 2LT and my car is being built as of now.

My 2SS order sat at 1100 for over 6 months before the dealer got the allocation. In the meantime, the same dealer got allocations for other trims while my order sat fermenting.

Everything was an order of magnitude easier and more predictable before 2020, even though the same clunky allocation system was used.

I had ordered a 1ss 1le. I placed it in July. Pretty much had given up on it. My dealer called me mid December with a allocation for a 2ss 1le. Now I’m out of pocket more then I had planned! Haha. Car is supposed to be build January 30th. Just gotta play the waiting game.

I happened to be poking around today and found my dealer has a new 2SS on their lot that is almost an exact copy of what I ordered except that it's the 6spd manual and a couple extra red trim pieces I didn't option.
I'm a little over 4 months since placing my order, 3 months since they told me I was #1 in the queue for the next 2SS. What gives?

Continue to play the waiting game, unless 2023 runs out. Then order for 2024 and order early. I ordered back in May and didnt take delivery until October. The 2SS makes the car feel special inside. I have no need for the 1LE package, and would never hit near that limit. I almost ordered a 1SS since I like the front end on the SS more, but the price difference was only 5k. I made the decision literally last second, and I'm glad I did. The only option that really is a must is NPP. The blind spot monitor and camera is nice, and helpful for a daily - but I don't daily this car. The Bose audio is the best I've ever had, highly recommend that even with an LT1.
