Help me decide LT1 vs 1ss 1LE

I know this should be subjective but I'm having a tough time. I like both aesthetically (with my chosen options on the lt1) I'm right at 41K on the lt1 vs 48K on the 1le. The money isn't Hugely important but still is some. I will be using the car for DD purposes. I live in South Carolina so i can(and will) drive it 90+ percent of the time.

Additionally I will be going to the dragstrip 3-5x a year other than that no track use in my future.

HELP!

Several threads comparing the two. From your post though and how you intend to use the car it sounds like the LT1 is the model for you.

I’d go with the 1LE, it’s a nice handling package and it just looks menacing. The stance and the wheels would be enough for me.

Can't get Bose in 1SS.

LT1 does not have Brembo rear breaks.

After that it comes down to the price difference and your preference on Looks.

I went LT1 and am very happy with my choice.

Okay, here's an alternative take.

I wouldn't go below the 2SS, because even that is well behind the cutting edge in terms of tech, which is important in a daily driver. Blind spot monitoring, object detectors, better audio, better seats, rear view camera mirror, ambient lighting, dual climate controls, heated and ventilated seats, heads up display, heated steering wheel etc., many of these are things you'll probably want and won't be able to retrofit later. Buy once, cry once, that's all I'm saying here.

As to the 1LE package, based on what you're saying I'll venture you don't need it, and if you find out later that you still want it, you can get most of its contents separately, except for the electronic diff. The one thing I'd option in even for the 2SS is the dual mode exhaust (yay), and maybe, but not necessarily, magnetic ride control. Yes, I know this goes some way towards the cost of the 1LE and would be included, but still, I'm not sure you want to pay $50K+ and have bits you won't need.

I've had a 2016 1ss, had to swap out some of the stereo as it was shit. I spent a lot of money on that car drag racing it. Loved every penny (lie) that I spent but we went fast. SO it bought a C7 and loved it but decided to go back to a Camaro (kinda) and found a Lt1 in St Louis. Gauge package looks cheap, would love to have up front camera but I don't. It has the Bose Package and RS package. Couldn't leave it stock so we lowered it, 2300 Maggie, TooHighPsi Port injection, E65, RotoFab CAI. Lowered on Phastek springs. Not sure why you can't get the Bose in the 1ss but I would have bought another one but none available at the time. I'm happy with the car, I did add the under cover panels that cover the floor boards as the car was noisy without them, easy to install and just cost a couple hundred bucks or less. Believe me its a great car for drag racing, 0nly 3640 stock weight so little less then a 1ss.

No heI don't drive mine in real cold weather so it doesn't matter. Good luck with your choice and with a cool 7k in your pocket between the two will do a lot of mods for drag racing.

The aero package on the 1LE is less appropriate for the drag strip since you mentioned you want to run it like that.

Definitely buy the LT1 and use the extra $7k for mods.

I would get the LT1 in your situation. The 1LE is worth it if you are going to track the car on a road course. Having said that, $40K for a LT1 is brutal, I know prices have gone up but jeez. I got my new LT1 for about $30K (no options) but that was back in 2020 on the eve of the pandemic lock down.

I don't think a 1LE is only worth it if you plan on tracking the car. I never quite understood that disposition. It's an excellent package even if you don't plan on tracking it. It's very confidence inspiring and feels great along the roads. If I were ever to buy another Camaro, which I don't think I ever would, I don't think I'd buy one without the 1LE package. I say that having owned a 2SS w/ magride, a 1SS 1LE and a ZL1 1LE.

I think it's a straight forward issue: LT1

1LEs aren't allowed on the dragstrip. They'll have an allergic reaction to applying their speed in a straight line!

Seriously though, Arpad_m makes a good point. The 2SS creature comforts (rear view camera mirror in particular - allows you to see 2-3 lanes behind you while driving on the highway) are really helpful.

If aesthetics are a HUGE factor for you, go with 1le. If not lt1 is just fine.
