Okay it’s your car but what does the motor being the same as 2015 have to do with wrong oil? ESPx3 is not what GM recommends to put in the car. It’s the supercar oil. Mobile 1 changed the name’s slightly and it’s a little confusing now but the one you posted is not the correct oil. Just trying to be helpful.

Interesting, well either way, ESPx3 is Dexos2 approved so you are good to go... You just don't want the old "European Car Formula" which isn't an ESP formula and is not Dexos2 approved...

So GM recommended 0w40 ESPx3, Dexos2 until June 2022? The LT4 has been produced since 2015 and suddenly it needs different oil? Seriously folks, don’t be a lemming here. Again, I know of no oil related failures in any LT4 and this was all prior to the magic-SUPERCAR oil becoming available 7 months ago.

Where did you ever see them recommend ESPx3. The old bottle say ESP not x3 and not Euro blend. I’m not an Engineer nor have I tested any of the oils for failures but I will use what the manufacturer recommends, all I’m saying is the labels look similar but they are not the same. Like I said it’s your car use what you think is best. Just pointing out it’s easy to order the wrong one as they look very similar.

It’s is interesting, I think dexos is just a standard not an actual additive to the oil. I think that’s specific to GM. Who know it’s probably all the same stuff but I’ll still buy the supercar oil.

Mobil1 ESPx3 IS Dexos2 approved, the owners manual doesn't specify a specific oil, it specifies a specific weight (0W-40) and that it should be Dexos2, which the ESPx3 is Dexos2...

From the 2020 SS Owners Manual...

Dexos2 approval is shown on the Mobil1 page for the ESPx3 oil...

Not to beat this subject into the ground but I contacted mobile 1 today through their website and they said specifically do not use the euro blend on high performance GM cars. He said that’s why we put for European cars on the label and website. He listed all the technical reasons over the phone. They have oil specific numbers on the website that I would recommend contacting before you try and save 10 dollars.

Mobil1 should hire more decent product placement folks. This ESP X3 0W-40 thing specifically quotes gm dexos2 certification in its product sheet, along with stating "expertly engineered to help prolong the life in new emerging gasoline powered European vehicles". Then you're saying their support people steered you away from the oil, despite the explicit dexos2 certification.

Seriously, it's arduous to try and keep up with these ambigous product names, descriptions and advice.

Yes he said the one that says euro is for European cars just like it says on their website. I don’t disagree with you as to why they changed the names or if this ESP3 even existed when the discription was put in the handbook. I think you have to read the entire label to get an accurate description of the product however. dexos2 is on many products that are not appropriate for our cars. I would suggest calling them for yourself if you feel like they are wrong.

I think he was likely referring to the black and white label "European Car Formula" which doesn't have Dexos2 certification and is not an ESP Formula...

The ESPx3 has the Dexos2 certification (why would GM pay for it to get the Dexos2 certification? GM doesn't make European cars.)

No I was very specific about the ESPx3 that says for European cars on the Mobile 1 site. GM doesn’t make the oil, Mobile 1 does. Never mind, put in what ever you want. It’s funny to me how when people get something in there head they know more then the company that actually makes the product. Not directed at you BTW but I tried.
