OMG- I hope you haven't waited too long! Did you not get the memo?!

You want to drive the 6th Gen like you stole it from day1! You've idled right by any chance you had at full ring seating and the compression ratio the manufacturer had expected this motor to have.
Modern oil is a lot different than the oils out only a decade ago. Oils continue to change due to more stringent emission standards, catalytic converters, and friction modifying molecules added for improving efficiency (energy conserving oils). In experience these modern oils lead to seizure and excessive smoking.

O.K.- I'm sorry, just totally BS'ing you! You have shown extraordinary self control, but now I'd say let that dog run!! And have fun, but don't be a statistic this holiday season!

Get a catch can because that one is going to be an oil drinker. Waiting that long to rip on it surely didn’t seat the rings correctly.

Congrats and get yourself a good radar detector. Don’t go cheap either or you’ll get annoyed by the false alarms and stop using one. I recommend Uniden but there are many great detectors out there. Have fun!

Don't panic... everyone has an opinion (like we've all got another personal part of our anatomy). Just take it out a drive it like you stole it for a change. Nothing is written in stone and with modern machining and manufacture, your break in procedure has a great deal less importance than just common sense and good quality oil (engine and gear oil), changed out at appropriate times.

I do run a catch can however. I think it's a worthwhile investment on these cars- IMHO.

Congratulations!! Question though, why the speedo is limited at 160 mph? Is there a hard speed limiter on the lt1s due to factory tires?

LT1's top out at 155mph speed limiter.

SS I believe is 172 give or take

ZL1 180ish give or take.

*cough* unless you retune them.

*whistles innocently*

The limiter is set to 149 mph on the LT1 (tires), 155 mph on all the verts (no roof), 180 mph for the SS and 206 mph for the ZL1. It's only a single setting (okay, two) in the tune, so one might be tempted to update it (them) to a nicer value... *theoretically speaking*.

This is my second LT1. Had a 2020. I tried to "follow" the rules for break in, but may have had a spirited drive a time or two.
