Video: Camaro ZL1 Windshield Replacement w/ PDR

BeastZL1 gets a new windshield installed in his 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 by Safelite Auto Glass and gets to help the experienced installer put in the replacement glass. The factory option Performance Data Recorder (PDR) camera needs to be removed from the windshield and reinstalled. He gives a positive review of the installation and of Safelite. The experienced tech, Chad, was professional and did a great job. The old windshield was damaged by multiple large and small rock chips. It also had sand blasting which impacted forward visibility.

Safelite changed the windshield on my 2019 Mercedes SL450 about 4 months ago at their local facility here in Nashville. Not a good experience.

The tech lost a bolt cover on the wiper arm (told me it was never there), incorrectly routed the washer fluid lines that spray fluid out of the blades (leave it to Mercedes to do that!), and I later found two small screws laying on the floorboard, but figured they must have used their own, as nothing was loose or rattling. Thankfully, I was able to reoute the hose, get the part from Mercedes dealer, and all other functions were OK. I had no intention of going back.

In the 2.5 hours I was in their lobby, I'd estimate 40% of the customers (about a dozen, all with appointments) were there to have an issue from a prior install corrected. Not good.
