Thermostat for Billet Housing

I am planning on getting the AMP billet thermostat housing. It does come with a Motorad 160 thermostat, but I think going with a high quality 174 thermostat housing would be best.

Given that the billet housing requires an LS3 type thermostat, you cannot use the recommended Katech thermostat. Any suggestions?

I did find this Lingenfelter one: https://www.lingenfelter.com/product...l#.Yz0CHezMJH0

I’m assuming you have a blower, so that’s why you’re getting the AMP housing? If so, you’re tuned, so I’d stick with the 160. Just because you have a 160 stat does NOT mean that is what you’re car will operate at…that’s dependent on your fan settings. Only reason to use a 174 was that it would work with the stock tune…that’s it.

Thanks for your input.

I just realized I asked pretty much the same question in this forum a few years ago and got some excellent info including yours.

No problem. I found your old thread and updated that as well.
